First of all, I want to clarify that I’m a player who has completed the game 100%, and I haven’t been paid to give it a good rating.
Secondly, if by any chance you’re reading my comment, please don’t pay attention to the negative reviews — they’re from people with two brain cells that aren’t even enough to add 1+1. These are people who rate the game poorly because they discover at the end that you can hide, who don’t know you can distract enemies by throwing objects, or who give it one star just because they can’t skip the dialogues.
The game is incredible. It immerses you in a dark atmosphere, has immersive sound, and a story full of twists and amazing moments. You have to be patient, uncover the story little by little, and start connecting the dots. The game leaves you defenseless in an Amnesia-style way, and your character is deliberately slow so you feel the horror in your own skin. It’s true that the graphics aren’t five-star quality, but it really doesn’t need them. Give it a chance — it’s a fantastic game that’s been unfairly criticized.
I was looking forward to playing this, but I've given up after the beginning section, mainly because the movement options are abysmal! You have a choice of smooth walking or watching your feet walk off and you teleport to where you stop the pointer. What this means is that you can end up standing next to a spectre, slowly dying, while having to walk the pointer to a safe distance to move to. It's like being punished for getting motion sickness! If there was a standard teleport option it would be much less irritating and I might get to play it, but for now I can't play it.
Yeah, you have to hide
I was skeptical at first to try this game out, but I'm glad I did. Each room has an ethereal and darkly chilling feel as you must figure each segment of the Mansion and its grounds to solve the mystery behind the seance while trying to avoid being consumed by the spirits that lurk in the Afterlife. I spent hours playing this eerily good game.
I highly recommend this game. As someone who loves story-driven games, I had a great time playing it. However, there were a few issues that bothered me. The walking and sprinting controls were inconsistent; sometimes the character would just stop walking for a few seconds, and sprinting often did not work as expected—I would end up stopping instead of sprinting. I also found it frustrating that I couldn't push a door open unless I was touching the handle. The stealth mechanics can be quite challenging too, as you often have to hide without moving for several minutes. Despite these drawbacks, it is still a great game, and considering its age, many of these issues can be excused in terms of VR gameplay.
Used all 3 game saves (which won’t delete, by the way) getting soft-locked in the garden. The flash bulb runs out every time trying to burn the roots needed to progress (flashing red), and the photograph to refill the pathos doesn’t respawn. Can’t progress.
This happens every single time in the garden.
Worse, I think, is the movement speed. Nothing but frustration with every step. The ‘sprint’ speed should be the walking speed. The actual walking speed is literally a snail’s pace. It’s excruciating.
I like the aesthetic, though the textures are janky and the characters models are kinda bad. There was some good atmosphere, but it got repetitive fast, and wasn’t very scary.
