Man have I been waiting for this game to leave early access… I enjoyed the game back then and I still enjoy it now.
So what is this game about? Well let me ask you this… Do you remember going to Disney World and going on the Buzz Lightyear ride where the seats spin around because you control them? The ride was called Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters, you shot at aliens to rack up some points and the ride would conclude itself with a boss battle against Zerg who just flies around trying to avoid your lasers.
Warchasm is exactly like the Buzz Lightyear ride in VR, except the tone is darker and the aesthetic is much creepier, especially if you’re like me and you play all of your VR games with the music turned off. Don’t worry, this is not a horror game, you’re only inside of a mine cart that is progressively exploring an alien world, you’re constantly going through a black void although you can see the walls around you, and you’re waiting for whatever alien robot is flying around trying to kill you, only to inevitably get shot down. If you have played Gazzlers, this game is no different aside from the somber tone.
Supposedly the game is still being developed, meaning we are getting bigger bosses and whatnot, but the bosses as I am writing this review are essentially shooting galleries, you stop in your tracks and you kill the remaining robots, and you unlock the next level.
If you want to play what feels like a roller coaster experience wit the shooting but you don’t care for the ‘roller coaster’ aspect , give this game a try.
I had some issues at first which the developer was more than helpful to resolve and it ended up just needing a reinstall but the developer was awesome and I think it's a fun game now so my review score went from 1 to 5 cos now it doesn't crash and it was just a buggy install obviously. But you need the right seating arrangement I think.
Wonderful game! Cool mechanics, consistent style, it's got its own groovy atmosphere! I like the level of detail - scratched guns, spinning wheelbarrow wheels. In general the whole game reminds me of the games of my childhood, only now in VR! No motion sickness, everything is good. Recommended!
WARCHASM is a fun rail shooter game where you have to move your body to avoid obstacles and shoot at droids and mechs in an alien environment. You can use shields and upgrade your weapons as you go. I like the way you have to move around it turned out to be a slight workout without it feeling that way.
Great game for all ages and types of gamers. Bullet hell on rails (literally) first person arcade shooter. Solo shooting, no zombies, great graphics/scenery, music, and increasingly challenging levels. Comfort level: NO motion sickness. This game should be in the Meta Quest Store by now. Great price: get it while you can.
