Me and my friend are addicted to this game. We play a lot of vr games, and we only really like Demeo and Demeo battles for table top. This is such a simple yet complex, fun game. It's super engaging, easy, and super easy to get the hang of. The game just game out, so there's not too much content, but I only see that as unlimited potential for the game because the game is a perfect 10 as it is. If the game gets regular updates, then this will be my favorite vr game of all time. It's already up there. I don't really write reviews for games, so that should be a testament to how good this game really is. Give this game the love it deserves! / This was my initial review, but I want to warn new players. If you do get this game, you won't be able to talk to any other players. There is no in-game mic, and the online community doesn't exist. You'll most likely que for hours not to find a game. Unless you have friends who can play with you, you won't really ever be playing online games. Even if you do find real players, there is no way to communicate with them or really socialize in any compacity. You can use 3rd party app to meet people to play, but even then, the few people that do play are from completely different countries to scheduling doesn't really work. Me and my friend have to call on our cell phones to be able to talk and play. This is my favorite board game of all time, but it's being held back immensely by a lack of community. You can't really build a community if you can't communicate. It may feel like you're playing against bots when you do find a game, but I assure you. There are no bots. Everyone is a real player. You legit just can't talk
Decided to get this game earlier and is such a refreshing game to play! Absolutely love it and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this game. Please get this game you won’t regret it!
The game has a polished foundation.
But it’s missing key things that would make it great.
The good
1. Nice graphics.
2. Decent world building story.
3. Can play private matches with a friend
4. factions have different deck playstyles.
The bad
1. The solo campaign is like an extended tutorial. And as a tutorial, it’s great, but as an entire game, it’s too short.
2. The decks need more customizability. There aren’t enough different types of units and the max caps on each unit type means the practical variation from deck to deck for a given faction is pretty small
3. The factions are not well-balanced. Seems fine in the solo mode, but the second you do PvP, you see how one-sided and unbalanced it is.
* Ballistas are too powerful and have too many hit points. Other factions don’t have easy counters. The necros have unreliable Devine furies. Shadowblades are easily countered by any other melee unit placed to guard the ballista.
* Protectors are too powerful.
* So a real fight always comes down to illustan vs illustan, and that’s coming from someone who really liked the necros and the assassins. But they just can’t keep up with the illustans.
4. The game will suffer from lack of player-base , but this is a problem for every multiplayer game. It’s fine if you always play with a friend in a private match.
5. The avatar AIs/ guidance is really bad. The avatars often get confused and stand around doing nothing, or pace back and forth (doing nothing).
6. There is too much mana late game and nowhere near enough card draw for it. Games often come down to the luck of the draw in the final 2-3 turns. Am I going to draw gladiators or a ballista.
7. The pyramid dice on your wrist that you grab to lock in your turn too easily triggers the whole table to move instead by mistake. Not great for motion sickness.
Despite all the criticisms, these are things the developers could totally address. It’s a good game, just needs a few things to make it great.
I just made the purchase, played until my headset died and itching to get back in. I’m currently only playing the campaign mode learning what this game has to offer and I can feel that it’s much deeper than its introductory gameplay would lead you to believe. I will return to update my review and modify if need be once I play through campaign and multiplayer but I can tell you confidently already to buy this game and I’ll see you on the battlefield.
Back again 5/18. I’m convinced that no one is playing this game I refuse to believe the leader board is legit. I have yet been able to get a pvp game. The most I could tolerate waiting was 20 minutes and nothing. I’m starting to think my game is glitched how can it be that I’ve tried at different times, mornings, mid afternoon and evening still nothing not a single player on. I want to keep my review at 5 stars because it’s not fair to use this against a game that is great to play even if it’s against myself.
Super fun game! Very addicting if you enjoyed age of empires or starcraft. Reminds me a little of age of mythology with a twist. Anyway, great game! Can the devs PLEASE develop same type game either civil war or revolutionary war. PLEASE.
You can burn thru the player vs computer fairly quickly. The game is fun but it's near impossible to get a pvp match. I set for 10 to 20 minutes without it ever bringing in another player. So be prepared for that. Maybe will be better in the future as more play it.
