I LOVE THE HELL OUT OF THIS GAME but after a bit it's kind of boring with the same weapons, even the Hunter and saboteur got boring after I leveled them up to level 12, but I had a couple ideas the first one is the magician, since there's magic in the game and different types of effects what if there was a character with a magic wand (different from the ones almost every class has) that can do different things with a press of a button aka the B/Y button, it has different magic and is very AOE based and status effect based... That would be super fun, the next class idea is shadow walker similar to magician in terms of "magic" but now you can throw balls of shadows and such, a move called shadow creep allows you to appear behind an unaware enemy with teleport which can be used with shadow blade (a small secondary kind of like the throwing knives but it can be used a normal weapon up close), the shadow blade deals good damage and does extra damage when you hit someone while they're unaware or behind them (yes it can be thrown)... I HOPE YOU LIKE THE IDEASSSSSSS, KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK
Awesome game through and through, what more can I say.
I've had this game for over two years now, and I still find myself coming back to it regularly. It scratches a very specific itch that no other game has managed to hit for me.
I honestly don’t understand all the negative comments — maybe some players are just trying to rush through it. This game rewards patience and strategy. Once you learn how to play it properly, it becomes incredibly engaging and fun.
Take your time. Fight enemies one at a time, tackle each level slowly, and you'll start to appreciate the depth. I especially love the risk-reward system — when you die, you lose everything, but the fact that you can still recover it adds real tension and satisfaction.
Highly recommend if you enjoy methodical, immersive gameplay.
This is an outstanding game with exceptional replayability. It's easily one of the best VR games I've ever played, and I'm greedily hoping the developers continue adding content to it. Well worth your money!
This game is super polished, super fun and is just one of the best things available in standalone VR. If you’re in the fence about buying, just do it, you’ll love it!
EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY TO GIVE THIS GAME A CHANCE, I JUST CONTINUE TO FIND MORE REASONS TO DESPISE IT AS MUCH AS I DO!!!
Let me get the positives out of the way.
Minus the fact that we have the thousandth WW2 simulator, as if we don’t have enough of THOSE already… I enjoy the narrative and the atmosphere of this also being a fantasy game. I enjoy the praying mechanic, even though it doesn’t always do what it’s supposed to do… And I enjoy the souls mechanic where you just collect souls as they fly towards your hand.
Here’s where the positives end.
What I don’t like about the souls mechanic is that you need to survive until the end of NOT ONE, but TWO levels in order to purify them. For context, this game is way more difficult than it seems. You need to take it slow, you need to explore as much as you can so you can find more cash and more souls. It’s really easy to gain souls, but assuring that they won’t be lost is a completely different story. With how persistent the enemy AI is, you will be caught off guard SUPER EASILY. With any roguelite, it is expected that you’re gonna die over and over again but you will have better stats. What’s NOT expected is you could be taking your time, killing the enemies and making massive gains on the battlefield, and all of a sudden you get a game over. Because you need to make it to the end of the second area and purify your souls, you can potentially gain all of those souls and forget to purify them, or even get super close to the end but still die, AND ALL OF YOUR EFFORTS WILL BE FOR NOTHING WHEN YOU GET A GAME OVER! This has happened WAY more often than I have ever wanted and it makes me feel like I just wasted so much time collecting souls, because they could just be lost just like that.
Even the most challenging roguelites like Until You Fall, Compound and HellSweeper have more fair outside-of-the-run currency mechanics than this. When you die, your ghost stands right at the spot where you died. In order to gain the souls back after a death, you need to make it back to that spot, NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU WERE INTO THE LEVEL AT THAT POINT, so you can pray and gain the souls back. Speaking of trying to make it back to a certain point of the level after dying, Why. On. Earth. Are the enemies able to respawn after you have previously killed them just because YOU got killed? I don’t care that this is a roguelite, I KILLED THOSE ENEMIES ALREADY, WHY AM I HAVING TO DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN?? This is another prime example of the game making me feel like my efforts have been for nothing. It also makes me feel like I could have just been speed running the level rather than being tactical, WHICH IS WHAT THE GAME EXPECTS ME TO BE DOING ANYWAY!
On that note of trying to make it back to the point where you died previously in a level, apparently dying and making it back to your ghost and praying to get your souls back is a way to gain more souls so you can purify more of them, especially if you’re playing on a harder difficulty. This is one of the dumbest game mechanics I have ever seen. Last time I checked, isn’t the best way to gain currency or XP in a roguelite, to try to WIN a run? To make progress? Let alone to beat the final boss? NOT DYING? The only time I could understand this being useful was in Galaga. GALAGA!!! AS IN THE 1981 ORIGINAL!!!
The life system is also poorly explained. When you lose a life, you go into a soul’s light mode where the entire level turns grey, all of the enemy way points are given to you and you are on the risk of getting a game over. The game does absolutely nothing to tell you that you’re at a risk of getting a game over unless you turn your hand over and see that you are at a WEAK status. I can’t even see how many lives I have left. The way I was able to figure this out literally was by experiment. Because I actually want to win most of the time so all of this is just poorly explained to me even when my lives are maxed out.
The recoil. OH MY GOD THE RECOIL IS SO BAD!!! I swear, you vr devs need to stop flexing about how good your vr physics are. It’s 2025, Everybody can make Gorilla tag nowadays. The recoil is so strong, WHILE BEING DUAL HANDLED BY THE WAY that it feels like when you’re firing a semi-automatic, you might as well be firing a shototototo gun from that one meme video on YouTube. I would love to feel like I am shooting a semi-automatic and not feel like my body is so weak that I can’t even hold the gun still while I’m holding shoot, meanwhile the enemies don’t get to face that problem like me.
One of the things that drew me into this game was that the enemies were apparently much smarter than the average enemy npc… That is when the enemies are actually trying to kill you. Why can’t the enemies just stay still when they spot me? What I mean by that is why can’t they just keep trying to shoot at me and not try to run to a different position EVEN THOUGH I AM STANDING RIGHT IN THEIR FACE?
Oh and why do the enemies get to punch me and I can’t punch them back? How in the world is this fair?
Let's talk about the fact that these enemies could heal. Now I'm not super mad about the fact that the enemies could heal and this might be because I was playing on the hardest difficulty, but I do find it a tad unfair that you can shoot the enemies by 10-20 damage but they just heal 40 HP at a time. Unless if you have lightening fast reflexes, you cannot reload your weapon fast enough to actually kill these guys.
One could look at that part of the review and just say, "Well just go into your settings and turn on Disable Manual Bolt Handling?" Which is a solid argument... WHICH IS WHAT I WOULD SAY IF IT ACTUALLY DID WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO! When you turn on this setting, it doesn't allow you to just slam a cartridge into the gun and start firing. Nononono. What ACTUALLY happens is you try to reload the gun by inserting the cartridge in, AND THE BOLT IS LOCKED SO YOU CAN'T RELOAD ANYMORE!
Also why is the setting called 'Disable Manual Bolt Handling'? Why couldn't you just name it 'Manual Bolt Handling' or 'Allow Manual Bolt Handling?’ Why do I have to do reverse psychology in other to make the settings the way I want them? WHY ARE THEY EVEN CALLED DISABLE SO AND SO? YOU TURN THEM ON AND YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD ENABLE SOMETHING!!!
Anyway, the combat prayer doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do half of the time, meaning I could have the prayer maxed out but it won’t let me see where the enemies are most of the time. Even though I am standing right behind the entrance for the level I would do a prayer and the enemies would appear to not be detected even though I walk through the entrance and all of a sudden an enemy is standing really close anyway, VERY USELESS!
I wasn’t even gonna add more complaints to my review for this game until I discovered that SOMETIMES the game will just glitch out and one of the enemies I’m trying to kill won’t even take damage at all! The bullets will just faze right through him BUT HE CAN STILL DAMAGE ME?!?! (This alone makes me hate the game as much as I do. This game’s been out for 2 years and the developers couldn’t do anything about THIS bug? Are you kidding me?)
OTHER TIMES the game will glitch out and I can’t even dual hold my weapons and aim properly.
The loading screens are terribly long, the game for whatever reason feels that it’s necessary to load up a story image even though I have seen it at least 5 times already, by this point my immersion has been completely broken and this game might as well be like the Sonic 06 of VR games when it comes to the loading screens. I LITERALLY HAVE FORGOTTEN TO RELOAD MY WEAPONS IN THE LAST TEMPLE 3 TIMES IN A ROW ONE TIME BECAUSE THE LOADING SCREENS ARE SO LONG THAT I LOSE TRACK OF WHAT I NEED TO DO HALF THE TIME!
Oh and sometimes the loading screens will just fail and the game will soft lock. At this point I’m legitimately questioning if these issues are gonna be fixed, or if the developers even care at all to fix them. 2 years.
The draw distance… WHY ON EARTH DO THE ENEMIES SHOW UP VISUALLY BUT SOME OF THE STRUCTURES HAVE TO POP IN WHEN YOU GET CLOSER? WHY DOES THIS GAME SHARE A SIMILAR PROBLEM THAT HITMAN 3 VR RELOADED HAS???
The Last Temple, aka the hub world is confusing to navigate through, I could not for the life of me understand why the developers could not just have the rest of the settings in a flat window for people to scroll through. On that note, Is it really necessary to have to find a statue and pray to it, JUST TO ADJUST THE DIFFICULTY SETTINGS?
There’s a mode known as Sun Run which is supposed to be a mode of the game where if you are not able to handle the regular runs, a sun run is a nice alternative. The sun run in a nutshell are an easier version of the sewer levels on repeat. They do get harder but it’s a much easier way to farm souls and skill points, and the levels are much more linear.
My biggest issue with the sun run is how it needs to be accessed. You can’t just access it like you would the normal run, the shooting range or the Mixed Reality mode where you would pray and the mode would activate. What you need to do (WHAT LITERALLY EVERYONE PLAYING THIS GAME NEEDS TO DO) is contribute to unlock the sun run by depositing your souls. There’s a structure that tells you the percentage of how many souls people have deposited to unlock the sun run… I’m not sure why the sun run isn’t just available right from the start, but that’s not my actual complaint. My actual complaint is once the sun run is unlocked, (which can take a really long time) it’s only available for a few days. So let me get this straight… if I don’t want to do the traditional run, I gotta either SUFFER through dying multiple times in the normal run (because keep in mind some people aren’t able to handle the normal run that well) JUST TO ACCESS THE EASIER MODE FOR ONLY 2-3 DAYS?!?!?! Also there’s a point where the sun run expires and what happens is every time you look at the sun structure that gives the percentage the soul percentage goes down really slowly, BUT THE SUN RUN IS NOT AVAILABLE. SO IF MY POWER GOES OUT ONE DAY AND THE SUB RUN IS AVAILABLE, I COULD LOSE MY POWER FOR A WEEK OR SO AND NOT ENJOY THE SUN RUN!
This is also the only game in vr I have ever played where it will not save if you have a low battery. So if you’re charging your headset with a power bank attached, don’t even think of your progress actually making a difference.
Why is there even a cooldown for teleporting to begin with? If you’re going to have a cooldown for teleporting, GIVE US A SPRINT BUTTON! BECAUSE YOU GENUINELY CANNOT ESCAPE THE ENEMIES FAST ENOUGH!
Anyway this game is just awful and confusing, I would honestly rather play Dead Hook than this despite how glitchy that game was. At least I could actually play the game and not feel like I’m losing track of time because of stupid loading screens.
I genuinely don’t think the developers care at all, because I don’t see them responding to any of these reviews. The game’s been out for 2 years. It boggles my mind that someone looked at these things I just called out and said YUP THAT LOOKS GOOD. And then another person implemented it, and another person play tested it, and then you developers threw this game out there with all of these issues.
