No... Its close but...
to start, the infinitely light cardboard weapons just do not cut it anymore. For a knife or pistol its ok, but after bonelab i can never go back. But that is only the beginning.
the biggest issue Over EVERYTHING else is clarity. The menu, the battle, the enemy hitboxes, your health. Nothing is clear, nor are you given any real options to fix it. In vr, you absolutely must offer remappable controls and alt control schemes minimum, but this game needs a configurable health bar and various indicators.
i should be able to sense exactly when, where, how, and from what direction i just got injured. The animations should show with glow effects or something exactly how close i can get. Going one inch towards a stationary spear without touching should not be a 1 hit KO.
But the massively overreaching hitboxes and lack of clarity on how to parry is what finally made me delete the game. I LOVE brutal games. Metroid 4 and ultrakill on hard mode were incredible. But when everything around you is a badly animated smoothly moving thing with no defined edges or sounds to make it stand out, this is just not fun.
Tldr: show every little action with a CLEAR visual and sound, and also boost movement speed and slow down weapon rates, and it could be pretty engaging.
but as it is the slow souls type is just not built for this game.
to end on a positive note though, the visual design of the enemies and weapons as well as the story are very compelling and are what i saw when i bought it.
Except it is from japan, so i guess you are legally required to dehumanize women? so goddess forbid the women have protected legs. That one kinda kills ur credibility. But, still, misogyny aside, those enemies are SO cool.
