Such a fun and well executed game, I love building things and the physics are pretty accurate aswell. Blown away with how great this game is and the amount you can customize robots.
This is a superb game, and something that's a great example of what VR is about. Having tasks to solve, and building a robot right in front of you, working out how you can get something assembled to complete a task. Weighing your options as to what might set your robot back, etc. Some of the building controls take a bit to get used to, but once you tinker with it you'll get it.
With that said, I do have two glaring negatives:
1. The game requires an active internet connection to play (as labeled in the store). It does not appear to have any features that should require internet just to be able to launch the game. Times without internet are rare cases, I know. But if you owned a flashlight that wouldn't turn on without an internet connection, that would be quite intrusive and there is no difference to me in this case. So far, I can't tell why it's requiring an active connection.
2. I think there was a missed opportunity with the sandbox mode. It would have been awesome to create your own objectives from a set of different types of levels where you can move things around, choose different objective types and set them up, etc. This would skyrocket the replay value and make it feel more like a virtual playground. As far as I can tell, the sandbox arena is a static area that you'll eventually grow bored of. This totally hampers the boundless possibilities because you'll run out of objectives to build robots for.
It's still a great game, but those 2 things really keep it from being a smash hit for me.
After trying out about 200 Quest games/apps I can say this is something special. Its high quality, innovative and fun. Also offers tens of hours (or even hundreds) of play time for a person who is intrested in building/testing/goofing.
The controls are super weird. Why do we need to grab stuff with triggers and not the grips? What is this, Meta Quest PCVR? Also, in the tutorial, when I finished Step 4, it wouldn't take me to Step 5. Absolutely rubbish! I would not recommend this to anyone who might have the same issue as I did!
They just stop developing the after 2 weeks I fun and has fun content but not much to do when it does not get updates
I LOVE building robots, kit building, lego building. But storing all these kids has been terrible. I just don't have room. This gives me a fun creative place to play without needing to store all my pieces anywhere :)
Any thought of adding a pass through mode? I would LOVE to scan my room, then drive my robot around my living room!
