I have to say, I’m a huge fan of rhythm-based games, and Solar Black has quickly climbed to one of the top 4 of my list! It’s not just a game, it’s a great way to sneak in some exercise while having fun.
If you’ve played Beat Saber, you’ll notice some similarities, but what truly sets Solar Black apart for me is the breathtaking, immersive environments. Seriously, it’s hard not to get lost in those visuals while you’re dancing around!
That being said, I do wish Solar Black had a bigger music selection. Beat Saber definitely has the upper hand in that area, in my opinion.
I’m really hoping the developers will roll out more tracks soon or even let us upload our own music. It would also be amazing to be able to adjust the music volume, so I can play my own music—it’s a feature many other games offer, and I know it would keep me coming back for more!
I totally agree with other reviewers: the graphics are absolutely stunning and really enhance the overall experience. Plus, the unique shooting aspect? Game-changer! Sometimes, I get so caught up in the fun that I forget I’m even working out.
I do agree with another review that in boxing mode, the targets can be a bit disorienting. Those arrows sometimes make it tricky to see what’s coming at you. And like another user mentioned, improving the flow of objects would help create more natural movements, ensuring we maintain proper form while still getting a solid workout.
But honestly, I’m just grateful that boxing mode was added in the first place—it’s a wonderful feature that really elevates the game!
Yes, I also agree that it would be awesome to have a playlist option for longer play sessions without interruptions.
Also, having a wider variety of tracks and genres would really take the experience to the next level. I find myself skipping volume 3 entirely because it's tough to vibe with, and I can only play the same songs from volumes 1 and 2 so many times before I crave some more variety.
All in all, though, I genuinely enjoy Solar Black. The developers have done a fantastic job creating a game that’s both entertaining and offers a great workout. I can’t wait to see how they evolve this game and what new features they’ll introduce. Here’s hoping for more music and some tweaks in the future!
I just bought the app and I’m already really enjoying it — I can tell this is going to be one of my favorites.
My only suggestion for the developers would be to improve the flow of the objects. Right now, they make sharp turns that feel a bit abrupt before I can hit them in Boxing mode. A smoother, more natural motion would make the experience even better.
Also, it would help if the portal were positioned slightly farther back — it feels a bit too close as it is.
Other than that, it’s a fantastic app, and I’m already loving it!
Beautiful, seamless graphics with a really smooth flow and great music. I look forward to my daily session.
First of all, this game is so polished! Graphics are incredible.
I bought it primarily for the boxing and really enjoy it! But.......I'm only playing one song at a time and by the time my heart rate climbs, the song is over and I have to find another song to play which brings my heart rate back down. It happens each time a song ends.
Is there a way to have playlists of numerous songs back to back to get a longer continuous workout? If not, could this be added in a future update?
Thanks,
Solar Black being the name I wasn’t expecting all the colors. There’s a lot going on but it’s not like I’m going to exhaustion (at least yet), but I am moving about nicely and having fun doing it. I have not yet cared for boxing mode, the way the targets were coming at me was disorienting. No problems on other two modes. I mean it’s on sale thru 2/23/25, give it a whirl. I really like the music and experience so far, but I’m only 30 min in. Some of you this won’t be your cup of tea so refund it. I rated this at 4 stars but that’s not a knock on the game. Ll play more this weekend and modify this accordingly
I wanted to make sure to leave feedback for this game because I want to see it become popular. I consider myself a rhythm game enthusiast and I'm always on the lookout for bold new takes on the genre. This game is new, yet already seems very polished. I would describe it as somewhat of a mix between Beat Saber and Pistol Whip, but it has a personality all its own. I can't wait to see how this game develops over time! I would recommend it to anyone who loves rhythm games and will be recommending it to all of my friends with a VR headset. I only hope that new music continues to be added over time, but the current selection is a great start.
