Simple, immersive, strategic and fun. Maybe a little easy once you figure out the mechanics but you can spend many hours on this hidden gem, highly recommend!
This is a polished turn-based strategy game that is a unique niche-filler in my library. There is a good amount of campaign content (although I'd love to see more!) and the gameplay is highly addictive.
There is one glaring flaw: the fact that enemy territories magically replenish all of their units immediately after being attacked, even if the month hasn't ended. This happens even when I hunt down and eliminate the retreating enemy units! This prevents one from attacking in succession with multiple armies, which in some cases is necessary for progression.
Changing that feature would bump this to 5 stars for me. Otherwise it's an interesting game with a steep difficulty curve and some serious design flaws.
I am enjoying the game a lot so far, played through two of the first campaigns now. I especially love that the audio is in Japanese, it definitely lends itself to the immersion. One feature that either I can’t figure out or is missing which I feel should be included is the ability to place your army before the battle starts. By default when you start a battle your units randomly spawn on the battle field and you have to spend your first few turns arranging them as the enemy charges you.
Overall though I am very happy with the game, love the visuals and am enjoying the simplified(in comparison to similar pc games) tactical gameplay, I also enjoy that its turn based since I prefer time to think out my moves as opposed to real time strategy games
Firstly it’s vastly undervalued, Worth far more than its current price, Let alone on offer. It takes you back to the medieval times of Japan and Shogunate. Allowing you to control the clans from those times and the Lords themselves.
You get totally lost in there, Organising your troops, Building provinces, Trading. Just incredibly well done and a brilliant strategy game.
My partner being Japanese herself, Also finds it interesting and if anything, Has lost her time with me as I’m too busy in this realm!
Looks and plays fantastic, It’s worth its high rating, And worth alot more in value!
It took me a few restarts to figure out exactly how it works but now I've got hours into the first campaign. Really fun and keeps me coming back. I remember playing a game similar to this years ago and now that it is in VR it's even better. Yes, I can see it getting repetitive (the intellignece of the enemy is low, variety is limited, and the challenges are basically resource management) but I'm loving it so far.
Enjoyed to play total war back in time. This game reminds me of the old days. Really good game. It's worth every penny
