For being a completely new type of experience I was surprised with the level of polish and intention. Looking forward to more games in this genre!

very boring but nice to look at

At its current state, this game is too boring and slow to endure. There are no actual choices in the dialogues -- you are merely presented with a list of questions (to which the NPCs will answer), where you choose one by one, and the order doesn't matter, and each NPC's interaction will end when you've exhausted all questions. Each playthrough (takes around 40 minutes) is a series of rooms and NPCs and puzzles. You don't "solve murders", unless you count doing that in your head as solving, much like reading a book. The puzzles (~5 total?) are also mostly lame, half of them either require no skills or totally depends on brute-forcing. The environments/graphics I like a lot, but locomotion is not very comfortable -- it's prone to sideway jitters, likely due to my imperfect joystick control (and stick drift). I think lots of smoothing should be added. Teleportation would be even better. AI voice acting is okay. There's no 3D sound, just directional sound. The UI and tutorial are not very polished. There is a serious bug -- at the end of each playthrough, or when you've invoked the "return to menu" button, the screen goes completely gray with a grid on the floor, and I can't do anything except reboot. Also, the stories are not very captivating.

EA Interesting proof of concept

...

Review is as follows.

This game is one strange beast indeed but it acts as a proof of concept on what AI can potentially bring into gaming.

Using one of your 10 coins (which you cant tell how many you have or in my case generation kept failing

You select a randomised group of words (I dont know how truly random they are.....more on this later) and then a character before you embark on the story generated for you.

Alternatively you can select a story that the community have generated (which is what you will be doing if you use all your coins)
Back on the how random the words and generation are...there were multiple similar titled stories and manage to randomise words to match the same story I had previously played in the community pool (hence the uncertainty of how random it truly is.

Off you set to listen to the story where you meet various characters or ghosts in the scene and read/listen to the Ai generated lines.
Some are ok but some are bad its all very mixed bag (I had a story of a king and his silver tennis racket........)

There is a few puzzles dotted through the story (some like the maths puzzles kind of tie into the story) whilst the other spacial awarness puzzles just seem a bit random (it has no baring on the story whatsoever)

Admiteddly I didnt get invested in the story I played, and ended up just chucking bits of the scenery around out of bordom as theres just very little to keep the player invested

Ill give it benefit of the doubt as its still in EA and will add to the review as the game evolves.

But currently its in interesting proof of concept and little more.
Im still curious at what the team do with AI and to see if they can make something really compelling to go through.........it could be that I just got a badly generated story?

More than meets the eye

Tons of replayability yet still super polished, can’t wait to sink more time into this game and see it get even better over time!

Interesting

Updated review:

The developer was quick to respond and fix the game.

The game allows you to select from premade combinations of prompts. Then it generates everything including dialogues and quizzes.

The story is generated by the prompt. You select from the dialogues in the game to reveal the hint for the next quiz. You answer the quiz and move on to the next one.

I believe that the dialogues and voice lines being generated from the beginning is a good way to keep the costs down. This makes a credit use resulting in a static set and story, meaning there are no ongoing ai costs with every run. That being said, the generated static set is too short to benefit from being AI generated.

A good start but needs more nuance to justify being based on generative AI.

Hi Majed, I'm really sorry about those bugs. We're aiming to fix ASAP (hopefully today) and I'll update this reply when it's fixed.
Regarding free text entry - we really want to release this soon! But we need to iron out some potential NSFW/copyright issues...
Thank you for testing the game!
