Sam is a dog with a hat. Max is a hyperkinetic naked rabbity thing. Together, they’re the Freelance Police, the intergalactically famous agents of indiscriminately applied justice, now starring in their umpteenth video game, Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual! Even multimedia evil-slappers like Sam & Max could use a hand, and this time they’re using the incomprehensible magic of virtual reality to invite the player into their off-kilter world for a furious day of monster-slaying, obstacle courses, responsibly discharged firearms, and, of course, saving the entire freaking world.
Key features:
•Discover the horrible and socially relevant secrets lurking behind, under, and within Cap’n Aquabear’s rotting theme park!
•Push yourself to be the best of the best of the middling, as a dog and a naked rabbity thing harangue and cajole you through a bewildering assortment of Freelance Police Academy training challenges.
•Immersion so real you can feel Sam’s breath on your neck!

So much potential, but almost unplayable

My sons and I have played almost every Sam and Max game, so we were looking forward to their VR outing. We read the reviews of glitchs, but thought we would roll the dice during the next sale. Unfortunately, we came up craps. The camera consistently spins, we encounters several game breaking scenarios, and other game mechanics just do not register. I wouldn’t think the activity of “waving your hand” would take five minutes before registering. If we could get a refund, we would, and that depresses me with Sam and Max. They deserve better.

Where is my money?

This game is unplayable!!! Every time I load it it’s a black screen, I tried for a literal hour! It’s glitchy, buggy, and crashes so much for me!

Hi, sorry to hear you are experiencing issues. We have had 1000s play the game without issue so there must be some odd conflict happening. Please contact our support at info@happygiant.com and we will be happy to troubleshoot with you.

Fans of point and click growing up.

I grew up playing point and click games and especially Sam and Max.

So teaming up with Sam and Max in the VR world. It's like the closest Roger rabbit moment you're going to get. The puzzles on certain occasions could use a bit of tweak here and there. But I did enjoy the ending final battle moments felt like a movie.

Anyways in conclusion, Not a bad game but not for everybody. This game requires patience and little bit of detective skills.

Ok game but.....

It's ok but I'd rather have a crouch mode button or reachable arm that you could pick up objects without having to bend over if in the seating mode while in pain to stand or walk. I rather have sitting mode but it needs a crouch button to pick up objects on the ground please.

Glitched

This game is VERY unplayable. Game ONLY loads then is left blank in the “blue” space. Then, if it actually loads the hands appear but glitch and don’t move at all. I don’t recommend at all.

It's ok... But disappointing too.

I've always loved Sam & Max and the style of games they were... This is just a bunch of samey mini-games with the odd boss "battle" thrown in. It's a far cry from the point & click comedy detective series with the occasional mini game it used to be. There's no puzzle solving, no obtuse brain teasing... It's just a clumsy cash-in on a beloved series.
The gameplay is alright and the graphics really fit the established style.
The "smooth turn" is agonisingly slow, but the rest of the controls seem to be ok.
It's ok. It's playable but nothing particularly exciting or thought-provoking. I was really hoping for something akin to Retropolis or I expect you to die, a decent narrative experience with a fun story... This is just not what Sam & Max games were... It's quite disappointing.
