I tried this game by case and I am really impressed about its gameplay. It is a fast pace shooter that reminds me of Doom. The design is all about hell, monster and devil with the possibility to use combo to kill. Considering it is in early access, It's already well made and worth any penny!!!!it will keep you busy for many hours!
This is a great game, very much like doom, I was having so much fun.
I knew as soon as I used the dash button I'd get sick from it.
I recommend turning the dash into a leap, like a large jump. I could do so much cooler kills with a leap.
Weapons could have a more doom like aesthetic rather then the arcade look.
Last, add platforming, nothing better then jumping from a hight and stuffing a gun down a demon's throat 😆.
Last last,,, executions!
I'll have to wait to play again cos I got really sick.
I play lots of VR and teleporting doesn't work for me. GG on a fantastic game tho it was not what I expected, it was better. ❤️.
This game will have you so locked in you’ll lose track of time and play for hours before realizing, if you’re a fan of doom style games with rogue like aspects this game is for you! I was born in the 90’s and grew up with games like this, but to play it in vr is a new level of fun! The upgrade system is awesome and the weapons/power ups are great, it has a very diverse selection of demons to rip through and many levels to conquer! I would highly recommend this game! Not only for the game itself but the devs team is amazing as well, always listens to feedback and strongly cares for the community!
I was gifted the game by being randomly chosen in a contest on the r/oculus quest subreddit. So, full disclosure, I got this game for free. Three hours later, I was gifting a copy for a friend, then went right back to playing.
This game is highly addictive. Think Doom+Crashlands+Serious Sam. It’s a blast!
There are a LOT of wave based shooters on quest , and a few even try to capture the FEEL of DOOM or QUAKE, but this game is the clear winner. If you love hectic wave shooters with an almost comic-booky hellscape vibe, this is the only choice. You feel like a complete juggernaut as you blow through the legions of hellspawn!
Pros
+Tons of great enemy variation. I’m always pumped to see what they throw at you next.
+Great music and voice
+love the power up system after each round. Some of the upgrade bonuses are amazing!
+love the randomization of levels
+ the game difficulty is perfect. If it was any harder, I would’ve put it down much earlier. As is, the “one more game” feel is VERY strong here.
Cons
- Turning on smooth turn, even at max is still way too slow
- I wish reload was active/quick reload. Waiting definitely breaks the rhythm. Infinite ammo power up’s definitely helped, but it’s luck of the draw when you get them.
- Unless I’m missing something, where’s the equivalent of a pulse rifle or assault rifle here? I really missed having that gun style! Plasma gun is fine, but a plasma rifle would be GREAT. Currently rocking the shredder/pistol combo.
If you're a fan of old school shooters like DOOM and you always wished you could be in the game, then now you can with Plasmaborne! The team at Cybersnake have been working hard to bring that vision of a fast paced, brutal shooter to VR, along with a great rougelike progression system.
They actively listen to feedback and throughout the early access have added requested features to the game, like the ever important options for smooth turning (for VR gamers like me!).
Don't just take my word for it, why not head over to my YouTube channel and check out my first impressions video when I tried it out a while ago!

You start in a cell with a dead body and basic control instructions near by. Then you can move around the hub which is like your bat cave. Which contains various information about the place and upgrade stations and a map showing your latest progress or best play. You can see 3 zones with an indicator of a boss battle at the end of each zone. Nice.
To start the game, you go through the yellow circle portal, and find yourself in the first arena. Shoot the spider thing in the sky, and the mobs start spawning in. Weapon in each hand (starting with 2 pistols) you blast your way through until the arena is cleared. Then you get to pick from 3 random power ups to carry through with you for the rest of this run. Jump through the portal to the next arena, with new monsters appearing as you go, and more appearing each time.
You get drone power ups and some treasure hunting as well as you play through, boosting your damage, giving you unlimited ammo, etc.
Takes a few rounds to earn good bounty for decent upgrades. And upgrades take you further each time.
Boss fights are very cool, mega big bosses, with challenging mobs and great music backing up your experience.
I am looking forward to the 3rd zone being released and can already find myself playing this to upgrade as much as possible, from passive skills, spells, weapons and their own upgrades.
This game is simple to understand, easy enough to master, fast paced and excitingly entertaining for a shooter dungeon crawler. Quite addictive!
