Don't waste your money, the flippers constantly stick, making this game really unplayable
High quality pinball game. Pinball FX VR is better though. Similar visual quality between the two.
The environmental graphics are pretty involved in this one. I’m a fan of them here.
I enjoyed the Jaws, secrets of the Deep, Walking Dead and Paranormal tables.
Edit: its now downloading tables, but this just worries me, that one day they can just pull the plug and you wont be able to get the items you paid for. I do not understand why the tables dont download packed with the game.
Just like many others, i have bought this on sale and all the DLC. Only to be told ingame that i can not download the DLC with the error ''an error has occurred while downloading''. If i try to boot the game while it is downloading i get a different error ''com.zenstudios.pinballfx2vrquest uses an online service that no longer works with this device. Some features may not behave as intended.''
So i have paid £20 for a game that does not work as intended, no way of reaching Zen as their website doesn't work correctly, their discord wont let me in to tell them, i have also tried emailing directly. Meta won't assist me with this issue saying it is a Zen problem and to reach out to them. Refunding the DLC is not easy either you will have to talk to Meta directly. I would hold off buying this game right now even though it is on offer just on the fact that it doesn't work as intended and a few other people have had the same issue so it is not just a ''me'' problem. Shame really
Current Status:
The DLC is back now! Safe to buy again. 🙂
Update:
A few days ago they released an patch that finally sorted out the glitch on the Paranormal table.
I've updated my rating to a very solid five stars.
Update:
It's been over a year since I reported the issue with the graphics on the Paranormal machine to the developers and the issue is still there. The table looks awful, and as I result I don't play it. The rest of the machines are excellent however and I still highly recommend this to any fan of pinball, but just be aware that the Paranormal machine doesn't match the visual quality of the rest of the game and it seems likely that it never will.
On the positive side, the exit door glitch is gone, and it has taken the #1 spot away from the PSVR version.
Original Review:
This is my third time buying this game, (I also have it on PSVR and the Go), so the pricing structure wasn't much of a surprise. Within 30 minutes I'd bought all the DLC, again. :D
Without question, Pinball FX2 VR is my favorite video game pinball, and as close as I'm likely to ever get to owning real pinball machines. The Quest version looks great, closer to the visual quality of the PSVR version than the Go version, (with one exception noted below). The added ability to freely walk around the machines adds a lot to the immersion. It may end up knocking the PSVR version down to second place because of the wireless roomscale.
There are a few issues however that keep me from giving it five stars. There's an occasional stutter if you're walking around. The PSVR version had this when leaning down to study the tables, and they patched it. (Unfortunately the tables released for PSVR in the Universal pack have the stutter issue, and they haven't been patched.)
But my major complaint, (and one I really hope the developers fix since it's one of my favorite machines), is the texture quality on the Paranormal machine. The playfield art is incredibly blurry, even at a distance. All the other machines look sharp and beautifully detailed, even when you get close.
And finally, another review mentioned a serious Exit Door glitch. I read that before I played the game so I just exited with the menu, but even then it didn't reload my library listing until I clicked navigate, then back to library, which makes me a little nervous.
I hope Zen patches the issues, because overall it's a fantastic game and I want to be able to give it a five star review.
I just bought the base game and all the dlc for a total of 20 quid - 12 tables! They downloaded fine and I recorded a video of all the tables for youtube and reddit. Pinball VR FX is Zens latest pinball arcade title, but this one still holds up and the tables are different. The experience is very streamlined, you only see 3 tables, you can't move, you can cycle the tables when you look at them and press RT and LT - but you don't have hands. It loads super fast though!
Just paid for the Universal tables as an add-on but getting error messages when I try to download them. Can't find a way to message anyone to sort this issue.
