The multi-awarded narrative VR experience is now available on Oculus Quest. ARTE gives you the opportunity to discover and rediscover Notes On Blindness, an emotional journey into a world beyond sight.
In 1983, after decades of steady deterioration, John Hull became totally blind. To help him make sense of the upheaval in his life, he began documenting his experiences on audio cassettes. These original diary recordings create the basis of this interactive non-fictional narrative which is a cognitive and emotional experience of blindness. Storytelling, art direction and graphical universe form a unique and singular immersion, completed by movement tracking, spacialized sound and controller interactions.
Produced by Ex Nihilo, Arte France in co-production with Archer’s Mark. Executive Producer, Novelab Audiogaming. Supported by TFI New Media Fund and Ford Foundation – JustFilms, CNC and Région Midi-Pyrénées.

Story & visuals & interactive
New at VR so I was unsure what to expect. Everything about this program is so well and impactful at helping a person understand about visual impairment and blindness. I recommend this to everyone
I've only just started playing the game, but it is wonderful. I find the way that the story is portrayed extremely clever. I can't believe that this game is free! I am excited to go and play more.
Touching real life story and an insight on blindness and what blind people really see around them. Just with their ears, they see more than sighted people.
So simple yet so moving. "Nice" experience that though me more about the world we live in.

Review:
The idea to build the experience mainly on sound and just hints of vision is brilliant.
The relatively bright black screens on quest 2 and 3 are a bit anoying, this might be the only game that looks best on Quest 1 😉
1 Star removed because for me the narration was a bit slow i need more action 😅
