Great artstyle, great tension, and great combat. Very under-rated. Especially worth a purchase on a sale.
I like the game, graphics. It would be better if it was narrated rather than reading everything, imo. I also have a glitch or something... When I die, it gets stuck in the screen telling me that, I then have to press oculus button as if I'm quitting, hit resume to get to the contine game screen only to see it won't let me. So I have to completely quit game, restart it to continue play from my last saved spot. Very annoying. Makes me just want to play till I die once, then move on to another game. If it's fixable, I'll change my rating.
This game is true vr horror jumpscares out of nowhere amazing art style and like a true horror game a very confusing story overall a masterpiece
They don’t come much better than this. It’s kind of a shooter so you start to forget how scary it is and then it reminds you. The game is a master class in VR graphics design/presentation. I can’t think of any other game to compare this to, except for superfluous comparisons like RE4. Lies Beneath is a top quality experience that belongs in your library.
I was sat on the fence with buying this game for a while but thought I'd give it a go when it was on offer. This is partly due to the cell shaded art style, lack of any Q3 specific update and 2020 release date. However, upon playing the game, I was immediately drawn in. I think the cell shaded art works brilliantly and looks very sharp on the Q3. I honestly don't think it needs a Q3 update and I'm not sure what you'd enhance anyway. The art style also lends perfectly to the graphic novel approach to the storytelling. I was eager to see what each new chapter would bring.
I played through the entire game on "normal" difficulty level and I found it quite challenging on a few occasions when I'd die repeatedly. The enemies are menacing, look great and offer a decent amount of variety. The game doesn't allow you to stockpile a tremendous amount of ammo either. For instance, you can only ever carry 6 shell shotgun shells at a time. That's it. So you have to use it sparingly, but it makes you use a variety of weapons and manage your resources carefully.
I can tell the devs put a lot of love and thought into this game with the little touches and ideas implemented. For example, the way you display damage. There is no health bar. Instead, you know by looking at how bloody your hands are. Even the menu/title screen is interesting and keeps you second-guessing as it evolves as you progress through the game. *Hint: Look around and behind you and you may notice a few things at key points in the game 😉 *
Bravo devs.👏
Probably the best game on the quest! If you play it on a quest 3, there are better games out there but this is an excelent horror action game if you can look past the small bugs (like not being able to pick up a dropped gun and generally the grabbing mechanic not working exactly as expected).
The bad grabbing does lead to some frustrating moments but overall it is a stellar experience with great creppy moments, good boss fights and a decent story.
