TL/DR: buggy Lemmings for babies.
Long version:
One level is like the other. After 10 levels, there is still zero challenge. Here's a hole, put a platform in it. Here's a drop, put a platform underneath, so the spuds don't die. Rinse, repeat...
Did I say 'zero challenge'? Well, there is one: when the game teaches you it has buggy mechanics that you must work with. Spuds don't drop, they jump. So far so good. You think, this would give you enough time to put a platform under it? Wrong. Once the jump animation started, the spud just drops through the platform. This is a bug! This should not be part of the game mechanics.
I was looking for a fun puzzle game but was convinced Kartoffl was not it by the sixth round.
The authors seem to think giving you too few pieces to complete a puzzle is somehow clever. So the game requires a considerable amount of speed and dexterity to frantically reuse/reposition puzzle pieces while the cute little spuds cheerfully bounce to their goals. The "apparent motion" experienced in relocating/repositioning the puzzle pieces in haste is very uncomfortable for me.
The game is well written and visually appealing. The controls are smooth and responsive. And the "spuds" are undeniably cute. I am sure this game will appeal to many but not my cup of tea.
The game is visually appealing and the music is relaxing. The goal is to get your cute little potatoes from one end of the puzzle to the other. It is very easy to pick up and play since the developers made the level progression intuitive. Haven't beat the game yet but I do see how much the later levels ramp up in difficulty and I'm looking forward to it.
Do you like puzzles that are actually hard and do you like an good designed game, THAN THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU. I have so much fun when i play this and its actually getting harder and harder on each level!!! So this game keeps you busy and takes time to complete. You have to be creative and use your brain. And don’t get me started on the design BECAUSE ITS AMAZING. The little monsters are so cute and the sound is amazing. If you read this buy it its worth your money but im not forcing you. If i could give it more than 5 stars it would be unlimited. :) THIS IS A MUST BUY AND IT EVEN HAS SEETROUGH
It is a great game and for the whole family to enjoy. In another comment I found the notes that the game is getting too big and the construction part which I totally agree with.
If you are a total beginner it would be nice to have as well a demo mode for the controls and not only the written explanations- this helps with an easier start.
Something to think about for hopefully updates of game.
I hope this comments help in the further development.
Yeah, big Lemmings vibes from this. Mixed reality makes this so much more immersive. Great graphics, music, and sound. Controls are very intuitive. It's great fun. The learning curve is fair too and I'm 53! Recommended.
