Love the double jump, the story and the multiplayer aspect of the game. Lots of things to do, to collect and craft.
The game is so much fun and looks good on quest. Note that the pcvr version does look better, but the stand alone holds it own with easier to get into. Fun with friends to help get resources for upgrades faster.
Multiplayer is amazing, from start to finish endless good time.
I would like to like it, but the saving system is too unforgiving. I don't have time to sit such long gaming sessions.
EDIT: so the devs said there is a new saving system but it does not work! When I leave to the ship it is supposed to create a checkpoint that I can reach from the NavCon, but when I go there the only thing I can do is start over the level! I gave this game a second chance because of that and now I can't be refunded! This is so misleading, I am furious!
EDIT 2: I have been in touch with the devs to fix my problem. They have been very responsive for a while but now they seem to ghost me. Very disappointed by Binary Mill.
EDIT 3: the devs finally found the cause of the problem and provided a solution. It's a great game now.
This game is fantastic. I'm totally addicted. I spend hours playing, and it flys by. I love that you can traverse great heights with the platform maker. There is also diving into deep waters filled with unique sea sharks. The bugs are tough, but fun to destroy. The mining for metals and other elements is very gratifying. I love this game!!! While hacking the cpu stations in the game, they cleverly advertise their " Resist" game, which I will be getting now. Anything from The Binary Mill is probably going to be pretty solid. I mean I was actually sad when I completed the story. I just keep replaying. It's amazing.
Bravo to the Devs. This is a well balanced game that is highly immersive. The atmospheres are magical and the movement is fantastic. The story is tastefully present enough to keep the adventure progressing without being burdensome. Traversing is a delight. The combat is fun. I love this game.
PERFECT:
Movement is superb. They avoided jarringly harsh start & stops when moving that so, so many apps fail to consider. Jumping and dashing are smooth and intuitive. Reminds me of the console game Ori.
Atmosphere. There’s a true sense of epic scale with a variety of dark and mysterious environments. The flare system is surprisingly fun and I find it makes me take moments to pause and appreciate the experience.
Load out. Customizing the controls is a core feature that makes this game so much fun.
NOT SO GREAT:
The pickaxe. It’s the only weapon that moves too quickly while handling like it’s made of photons and it ruins the immersion.
The upgrade system. The bridge between raw materials > components > upgrades is broken by not having descriptions in the upgrade crafting menu. I have run to the load out bay to read the description then return to the crafting bay. This really disrupts the flow of memorizing materials and components to plan for upgrades since I can’t remember what I’m saving for. This is by far the weakest point of the game for me. I want to know what the upgrade will do with stats that give me more than “increases damage by 1.2” … how much damage is that? How much damage do I currently do? It’s just a vague idea that doesn’t really mean anything so I can’t really weigh it against other options. Since the materials for upgrades are real commitments, knowing which one to focus on is not intuitive at all.
All that being said, my hat’s off to the Devs. I love this game. One of my favorites to-date.
