Horse & Hoof

I would have gone crazy over this kind of game as a kid when I was learning to ride and wished more than anything to have a horse of my own. Being able to reach over and pet the horse feels so much more satisfying in VR compared to more traditional PC and console games. I haven't seen any other experiences like this for Quest, so finding Horse & Hoof was such a nice surprise!

I really enjoyed hanging out in the barn in a relaxing environment that put me at ease. Chilling in the pasture with horses was always my favorite part of the lessons, so I would love to see more horse animations added that show the playful and mischievous personalities they sometimes have. Seeing the holiday decorations is also nice because it gives me the sense the developer will be adding seasonal updates, and that's a nice reason to come back and check it out regularly.

The turning and slowing down during the riding lesson felt pretty realistic and mimics the same gesture you would use to turn a horse using the reins. More settings for comfort such as adding a turning vignette and snap turn option would help reduce motion sickness for users who are more sensitive to that.

There are several areas for improvement such as increasing the realism of the tack, grooming equipment and other details, but this is expected since the game is still in early stages of development. I think there is a lot of potential for the game developers to build on the current features and include a variety of different riding lessons and trail rides in the future. I look forward to keeping up with updates as it evolves!

This game is a surprisingly calming, hands-on horse-care experience. At first, I found myself awkwardly stepping around the manure, but once I cleaned it up, I felt this odd, unexpected sense of accomplishment, like checking something off a to-do list. From grooming to dressing up my horse in cute accessories, there’s a relaxing, everyday satisfaction in all the small chores. It’s definitely something I’m excited to show my nieces, especially since they’ll love the whole process of caring for their own horse and taking it out for a gentle ride.

For now, I’m leaning towards a solid four out of five. It’s already a great foundation, but there’s room for it to really shine, like making sure the horse keeps its accessories when you ride and adding more fun, interactive elements around the ranch. If these improvements roll out in future updates, I’d be more than happy to bump up my rating.

This game can make even a non-rider feel like a pro! From customizing the color of your horse to cleaning its hooves and riding across the horizon, this is a great game for anybody and everybody. The landscape options and visuals are top tier, transporting you from your living room to the grassy coast and western frontier! Definitely would recommend this game to anyone who loves horses, and even those who don’t. Relaxing yet action packed, this game is for everybody!

Horse & Hoof is a wonderfully relaxing and satisfying game where you care for a horse by grooming and cleaning it as well as ride it! If you are artistic, you can customize it with vibrant colors as well (I may have given mine blue hair). The simple tasks like brushing and hoof cleaning, are incredibly enjoyable and reminiscent of PowerWash Simulator in their gratifying, real-time progress. The soothing atmosphere, easy controls, and sense of accomplishment make it a perfect choice for unwinding. If you love low-pressure, calming gameplay, Horse & Hoof is an absolute treat.
