Graffiti Phoenix takes your spray cans to the walls valley writers know.
FOUR PHOENIX PLACES
- ROOSEVELT ROW: a mural alley in the downtown arts district on a gold afternoon. Paint bungalow galleries and a brick corner block under colourful shade sails and string lights, with a container gallery at the end.
- ARIZONA CANAL: down in the dry canal bed during the winter drain-down. Five-metre concrete walls, a road bridge overhead, palms along the banks, Camelback glowing pink at blue hour and bats pouring out of the storm drain.
- MONSOON: an abandoned desert drive-in at sunset. The giant screen, the old snack bar, rows of speaker posts and rusted cars, a tumbleweed rolling through, and a monsoon storm with lightning and rolling thunder.
- TEMPE MILL: the old flour mill on the lake on a crystal morning. Painted silos rise beside you, freights cross the trestle overhead and hot-air balloons drift over the water.
THE CITY IS ALIVE
People walk the alley, watch the bats, photograph the storm and stop to look at your work.
