My Gorilla Tag fangame is a project inspired by the fast-paced, movement-based gameplay that made Gorilla Tag so popular. At its core, the game focuses on freedom of movement, player skill, and social interaction. Instead of relying on traditional walking or joystick controls, the player moves using their arms, creating a physical and immersive experience that feels both challenging and rewarding. This fangame is not meant to replace Gorilla Tag, but rather to expand on its ideas and explore new mechanics, maps, and creative directions.
One of the main goals of my Gorilla Tag fangame is to capture the feeling of momentum and mastery. Movement is simple to learn but difficult to fully master. New players can quickly understand how to push off surfaces and climb, but experienced players can use advanced techniques such as wall climbing, branching, and quick turns to move faster and more efficiently. This skill gap makes the game exciting, because improvement feels natural and earned through practice rather than upgrades or unfair advantages.
Another important aspect of the game is its map design. The environments are designed to encourage exploration, experimentation, and creative movement. Each map has its own theme and layout, whether it’s a dense forest, a rocky canyon, a snowy mountain, or a futuristic area. Verticality plays a major role in the design, giving players many paths to take and multiple ways to escape or chase others.
