Having played the first Moss I knew the developers at Polyarc could create a compelling and beautiful game, but having played Glassbreakers both in Alpha and now upon full release I can say this game is a great entry into the "Mossiverse" entirely on its own.
Very unique in its gameplay and approach, Glassbreakers is a blend of parts of a MOBA, tabletop game, and RTS (although it probably most resembles a MOBA). But don't let these subgenres intimidate you as somehow Glassbreakers still manages to be approachable and not feel too chaotic. The control scheme helps to make the game work well especially during the intense moments in a battle and rounds take only about 10 minutes to complete.
My openly criticisms would be sometimes the controls, specifically the special abilities, can feel difficult to activate correctly (although this could just be me) and it can be difficult to find a match at odd times of day (although the discord seems to be helpful with this). Thank you Devs for another great game and I look forward to continuing to hone my skills in the arena.
What a fun way to build a deeper relationship with all the beautiful Moss characters! I’m not typically a player of these games because I don’t have interest in the characters, but after having played Moss before, I’ve been happily drawn into this gameplay style because of the wonderful characters. I’m truly enjoying leveling up their skills and wardrobes. Thanks Polyarc for such a wonderful addition to my Vr game collection!
a solid game and the great addition to the other moss games looking forward to further expansions to this
The game has beautiful graphics and the gameplay is simple but engaging.
However, there is no campaign to follow and it’s a tad misleading with the 2v2 mentioned. You and your friend will not get your own troops but will have to share and move the 3. It’s a little bit of a let down and something that was not clear.
Unlocking troops and skins is fun, you level up your little guys and get dyes and new champions as you level up each champion.
The devs have been super communicative in the discord and they’ve been fixing any issues that have arisen. I really appreciate this and hope they continue to improve the game!
In the beginning I didn’t like it felt chaotic and a free for all, then the game truly revealed itself to me.
Glassbreakers is one of those games that you feel yourself getting better and figure out strategies from your experiences only to scrap those plans mid game because of how it’s playing out. It’s a game you truly learn from your losses so much so that I wish it had a record option as to go back and study the outcome, so many times I thought victory was a glass stone throw away only to find myself on the losing end of things that I would love to see where it all went wrong. Needless to say I love the game couldn’t put it down.
The only negative I can say is and this could be because I’m early in progression, the majority of my matches are with AI. (I use intelligence loosely) This of course is not the devs or games fault. Also with the character unlocks and all the cosmetics , this may be a me thing I was thinking it would just unlock characters and place them on the character wheel, but you actually have to go into the cosmetic portion of game and for each character as to find your unlocks. It was not explained. Great Game Devs!
For those looking to play vs humans I recommend joining there discord great community and they line up games also a tournament is being scheduled for 12/13. See you there!
This is one of the toughest reviews to write because it’s honestly such a fun and brilliant game, once you pick it up the gameplay is just a ton of fun and addicting. Maybe one of my all time favorites.
However while I want to show support, there’s a huge flaw here. The devs made no real single player content whatsoever. No story mode, no campaign, not even any unique battle modes besides just a basic ai scrimmage which gets old quickly.
This would all be excusable if there was a thriving online/multiplayer community, however that’s yet to materialize and I haven’t been able to find a single real match in game. So the devs built a purely multiplayer game with no multiplayer community to support it. Hopefully more people join or more single player content is on the way because if not, this promising game is dead on arrival.
(Will gladly change this review if either of those issues change)
