NEW HUGE COMBAT UPDATE!

In this Metroidvania FPS adventure, you explore an abandoned lab in Antarctica overrun by monstrous beasts. Print living creatures to use as weapons and survival tools, and take part in a fully voice-acted story as the facility’s sole survivor guides you through an alien ecosystem… but what role did he play in the research station’s downfall?

We’ve been hard at work since launch — and we’ve just released a huge update that greatly improves the combat! Some of the changes:

🔫 5 new radically different weaponized creatures
💪 New upgrade system giving you more choice in how you deal with enemies
🚧 Improved combat spaces to enhance your adrenaline flow
👾 New enemies, fine-tuned behaviors, and better boss fights
💰 Rebalanced loot amounts and ammo costs
🥵 Four difficulty settings
🦾 Many accessibility options
📝 Even more lore to find in the facility
➕ Atmospheric synth-scapes, resolution equal to PCVR, and much more.

Morph into a tiny creature to go into narrow vents by using the Brainlink, or rip obstacles apart with the Grubber. The open world lets you move freely across interconnected maps. Open up new paths by unlocking new creatures to print or finding new items.

Slay enemies, then upgrade your weaponized creatures and the gloves that wield them. When the alien ecosystem fights back, the weapon creatures you print with your gloves will determine your survival.

Genotype is a beautiful Meta Quest 2 game, optimized and updated for Meta Quest 3 and Oculus Rift.

Loved it so

At first it took some time to get used to to the bugs constant attacks, but over time I gotthe hang of it. The use of different created “bug” weapons was unique. I also enjoyed the semi free range maps. I finished the game but still have a couple of things I’m goin track to complete. I thought I was close to completing the game about half way through and was surprised that there was so much more to get through!
Great game!!

Half life vibes

OK this might just be my favorite quest stand alone game. I'm playing on a quest 2 and the graphics are on level with red matter 2 (pinnacle of quest graphics imo). It has a true campaign with an engaging story and atmosphere.

I'm not really getting the "metrovania" thing they advertise, but to me that's a plus. I don't want to get lost and backtrack forever. This game has a great map and I feel like I know what I'm supposed to be doing.

I also appreciate the Barney Calhoun security reference so.....maybe the half life vibes were intentional.

This is a must have for quest owners looking for an engaging campaign as opposed to the horde mode/arena shooters plaguing the quest store.

Amazing

** edit
I just finished the game, its a masterpiece. Best game on quest and tied with best vr game (half-life alyx).

I will revist this game probably every year, its that good. Thank you, for making such an amazing experience.

Feels like a nostalgic VR experience

This game is simply fun and feels like a blast from the past. For some reason it reminds me of VR Alien version of Bioshock. I often find it hard to get into games and this is one I look forward to getting back into when the kids go to bed.

Amazing!!

Genotype is exactly the kind of games I was looking for! I'm gonna give it 5 stars because despite its small flaws I REALLY enjoyed and loved every second of it.

Gameplay, exploration, story, music, shooting, keycards, safe-codes, it's got everything!

My only issues with the game were a huge game-breaking bug in the Maintenance level that had the lever for the water rooms not work (but rebooting my Quest 3 fixed the issue) and also switching weapons (even tho I love playing with the wire when I'm not in a hurry, it can be a bit too hard mid-combat, and rockets are even worse).

Definitely recommend this game to fans of games like Prey (2017)

Great story driven game

This game surprised me. The presentation and graphics are really good and not what we usually find on indie games like this (to me it looks much better on the headset than on videos). I've initially played on PCVR, and when I've tried on Quest 3 I couldn't notice much difference. Interactions feel good, the different types of "guns" are cool and immersive, and the metroidvania formula of exploring the rooms in the facility and progression feels great. My only gripe is that enemies seem to respawn every time you return to an area, but since there is not much ammo around you are kind of out-of-luck if you decide to go to a different section than the one that the game intended you to go (so you need to make sure to always look at the map to verify where you are going, since going to the wrong area may mean you won't have enough ammo for the enemies).
