Needs work

Decent game, right up until your base starts getting destroyed from things outside your play area. Things shooting long range missiles from outside my play area and there doesn't seem any way to stop it. Happened in 3/3 games now. Can't bring myself to try again.

Nice concept, controls not accessible

Love the concept but the controls seems really broken. Select to place a turret or my base and then expecting to just point to where I want to place it. However, it seems to only want to place it right underneath where my controller actually is. How can I place turrets and buildings at the resources around the map (room), without me having to keep walking around all over the place?

I was hoping I was just missing something and was hoping there would be a help tool or tutorial somewhere but there is nothing, not even a controls guide.

Other things in the game controls strangely as well, like not being able to scroll through the build screens with the thumb sticks, instead having to grab and scroll using triggers which just isn’t intuitive.

Hoping I have just misunderstood the controls and the developers can reply to this review and help, at which point I will gladly try the game again and update my review as it really is a cool concept.

UPDATE:

Thanks for the reply from devs. I understand your idea of moving around the room to place the buildings and turrets, but that doesn’t make the game very accessible. I was hoping to be able to play it sitting down, which isn’t possible with the current controls. It would be great to have the option to use the controller pointers to place things as an option.

Updated review to 3 stars and would gladly update review further if more accessibility friendly controls are added so the game can be played while sitting stationary.

Hi! Thanks a lot for your feedback! 😊
We’re really glad you like the concept!
The game is designed to turn your actual room into a battlefield, so moving around your space is part of the core experience. To place turrets or buildings, you need to grab them from the menu—while holding them with your controller, you can move them freely in space. You’ll see a projection on the ground and a buildable area indicator to help you position them. Once you're happy with the spot, just release to place!
As for the build menu: yes, it also uses the grab-to-scroll logic, which fits with the physical interaction design of the game. That said, your suggestion to allow thumbstick scrolling is a great idea—we’ll definitely look into adding that in future updates.
Thanks again for the detailed review—feel free to reach out anytime. We hope to see you back in the game soon!

Get this game. It's soooooo good!!!!

I've played Iron Guard and Towers & Powers, both of which are torrent defending games. Compared to Forticasa, I say they all have charm and are good games. Forticasa stands out because you can freely place your torrents almost anywhere, and it can be done in mixed reality. Forticasa might not be the only torrent game on the Meta Quest, but it is one of the most unique that takes a torrent game to the next level and then some. I love how the enemy comes from the ground and air. In the air, the explosions are impressive. There is a lot of freedom building your base almost anywhere you want and a decent amount of torrents to buy as well as a lab and barracks to make soldiers. This game stops just a little short of being a VR real-time strategy game.

Mr. Q. Lovin' this little game.

Normally I don't write reviews but in this case I was very pleased with this VR augmented reality game 😀.

I am now on the endless waves stage and it's challenging.

It's great to see the waves coming out of little portals around my room and defending my base against every wave. One mistake and it's game over!

I wish it had a save game option!

This game format has great potential, for example... WW1 or WW2 battles or Rome era with barracks and so
on. If that version / Option was available or a new Augmented reality game was available like this I would buy it immediately.

For 9€ under 10 $ it's a win in my opinion.

Try it 👍

Great little game - needs some tweaks

Love the implementation of the game and it makes me smile seeing the attackers walk and fly across my room towards my base! Good variation of enemy types that steadily build up.

However, it feels like there needs to be some tweaks:
Unit prices seem quite high given how little money the base and the Extractor generate. Being able to upgrade the Extractor to generate more money seems like an obvious element that has been missed.

Research prices for new towers seem incredibly high when you can't generate enough money to research AND build that tower.

No pause or quit buttons? If my base is going to be destroyed and I know I can't stop it, do I really have to sit there and watch it be destroyed?

Having some sort of interaction, abilities or powers would be great to help defend your base - look at Iron Guard and the spaceship that you can use to fire at enemies or call in airstrikes.

Each level seems like you need to use specific turrets instead of being able to play freely.

The Sniper tower is called 'The Best Defense' in the Lab rather than Sniper for some reason. Took me a while to figure out where it was!

Really Fun Tower Defense Mixed Reality

I have been enjoying this game a lot! Graphics are good and the battleground is awesome on floor of your own home and you can map your furniture that adds strategy and defense tactics. Mixed reality really blends well with this game.

I wish it had a difficulty setting though. I find the higher levels too tough. Anyone has starter build tips? I highly recommend this game for strategy lovers though!
