I would love to play this game more, but it requires a stable Internet connection, which can be a challenge in my area where the Internet connection isn't very reliable, It would be nice if you had an offline mode, so I could play the game without worrying about an internet connection.
I have tried almost all the stand-alone fitness apps (no subscription) and this app is one of the best. It incorporates some activities such as paddling and rope swing, which I haven't seen in other apps. I still think Les Mills is the best stand-alone app in the Quest store, but this one comes very close - one thing I would love is if it has hand-tracking and allows us to use weights or resistance bands when doing exercises such as biceps curl and sky press. The boxing sequence gets monotonous and doesn't register sometimes. The boss levels are definitely tiring but can get a bit repetitive. The blue host is a bit childish but not a deal breaker. The points system and leaderboard could be improved to motivate us better. I hope the developer keeps working on this to make it the number one fitness app!
It's a good game that leaves me really sweaty but the number one issue i have is the rope swing, every single time i drop from 1st to last even though i'm hitting every orb at max power, i don't understand what i could be doing wrong? I saw someone else say the same in a review and the developer responded but didn't address why. Also the hit detection in the boxing is pretty bad, i don't like the ones where you have to hit two at the same time above your head, doesn't register half the time. And a proper leaderboard would be nice rather than just a few other players scores that you can only view while playing
First I would like to say that this game is fantastic. I've only done the first levels up to the boss but it has you moving in several different ways and you're moving continuously. And it is whole body movement. There is a story to keep you involved. You will sweat and have fun doing it. I like the fact that it keeps you involved to keep you motivated. I will say I believe especially on the tennis part that there should be a way to adjust the racket as it's almost impossible to hit the targets. I have a full VR room setup and you use the entire room so you will need some space to play. I hope the davs are still involved and keep updating and hopefully adding some tweets to make this game perfect.
I really enjoyed the workout this game gave me. I think the main flame character is really annoying, and many of the sound effects of monsters is kind of cringeworthy, but overall the game is both fun and effective, and totally worth the money.
Update: The developers did an outstanding job. They added more exercises and there's now an option to skip an exercise. This makes the game accessible even for people with limited mobility. Excellent work—definitely a 5-star game.
For the devs: it would be great to add even more exercises, like weight lifting or stretching for the neck and shoulders at the end of each session.
Fitness Fables introduces a unique and engaging way to work out by turning exercises into in-game challenges. Each movement corresponds to a specific piece of gym equipment, which helps users understand the real-world application of their training. I particularly appreciate how the game visually connects movements to actual exercises, making it easier to grasp their purpose and function.
Areas for Improvement
Some exercises are bugged even when performed correctly. For example, the one where you have to grab the handles and rotate your arms simultaneously doesn't register movements properly, even when done correctly. The same issue occurs with the squat using the detonator.
The exercises should be more varied.
Another issue is the excessive number of squats. While lower body workouts are essential, the current balance feels too squat-heavy, potentially leading to knee strain. Adding more variety to leg exercises would make the gameplay more balanced and safer for long-term use.
Suggestions for Enhancement
A key improvement would be the ability to skip or substitute exercises. This would allow players to customize their workouts based on their needs and limitations.
Additionally, I strongly recommend introducing a seated mode with tailored exercises and an adapted adventure. This would make the game more inclusive for users who prefer or need to train while seated, ensuring a full-body workout experience for everyone.
Implement these changes, and I’ll gladly give Fitness Fables a 5-star rating!
