One of the few exercise games that actually do a good job of incorporating various different types of exercise into a single workout; and also feels like more of a "game" than just your normal workout which is great.
Only real issue with it is activities which require a bit of accuracy (tennis/archery), as aiming properly in VR can be jank at times. Sucks to lose a streak or miss a collectable due to the aiming being a complete mess.
Should also mention I did have the save bug which other reviews have also mentioned, but it got fixed manually by the devs after a week. Great that it got fixed, bad that saves appear to be server-side and this can happen at all. Why is single player game got server-side saves I have no idea.
Initially I would have given this 3.5 stars. It is a bit boring and redundant but a great workout that makes you sweat, so I wanted to keep using it. However when I went in last, all my progress is lost. Seems they've closed up shop? I wish you could keep your progress on your headset then instead of their servers. I have tried reaching out to them and heard nothing in response. :( I paid for this app, so this is not okay. If it were free, sure. Even if they've bailed on it, we should be left with a useable experience.
Update: After the last update, the skip for exercises works in forests but not against bos. PLEASE SOLVE THE PROBLEM. Problem is fixed set room scarpe.
Fitness Fables introduces a unique and engaging way to work out by turning exercises into in-game challenges. Each movement corresponds to a specific piece of gym equipment, which helps users understand the real-world application of their training. I particularly appreciate how the game visually connects movements to actual exercises, making it easier to grasp their purpose and function.
Areas for Improvement
Some exercises are bugged even when performed correctly. For example, the one where you have to grab the handles and rotate your arms simultaneously doesn't register movements properly, even when done correctly. The same issue occurs with the squat using the detonator.
The exercises should be more varied.
Another issue is the excessive number of squats. While lower body workouts are essential, the current balance feels too squat-heavy, potentially leading to knee strain. Adding more variety to leg exercises would make the gameplay more balanced and safer for long-term use.
Suggestions for Enhancement
A key improvement would be the ability to skip or substitute exercises. This would allow players to customize their workouts based on their needs and limitations.
Additionally, I strongly recommend introducing a seated mode with tailored exercises and an adapted adventure. This would make the game more inclusive for users who prefer or need to train while seated, ensuring a full-body workout experience for everyone.
Implement these changes, and I’ll gladly give Fitness Fables a 5-star rating!
Changing to a 4 star. I still like this game
PROs:
* Move Heaven: has targeted so many muscle group, I am hurting (in a good way). I almost feel like I don't need another game, there's dodging, swinging, boxing, squating, so much more, and it's exciting.
* Very addictive: once I was done with the tutorial level and my settings were configure, I couldn't stop.
CONs:
* Does not "Show, not tell" with story-telling: i was a bit disappointed by the game's need to explain the story rather than show, as it was a bit off-putting. I don't care for this world, I just got here, give me a reason to save this world.
* Tutorial immediately assumes player is Right Dominant: The tutorial didn't immediately ask if the player is left or right handed, as it encourages the player to PLAY the game immediately instead of addressing some of the more important settings found in the setting. As a result, I went into the tutorial stage with the controls set as someone who is right dominant, forcing the tennis section to only select the right hand, not allowing for any switching. I had to exit the tutorial, go to the settings, and then miss the rest of the tutorial because I thought I could hold A to skip one part of the tutorial, not all of it. So I would suggest to give a Professor Oak style of asking the player what their preference is, or at least make the paddle hand become ambidextrous.
* Bow & Arrow with the scope on right dominant side on left handed mode: This was silly, but when attempting to use the Bow & Arrow in a left dominant side, the scope is only located on the left side, meaning I had no practical use for it. So the bow is still in the same stance as before.
Everything else is great.
I really enjoyed this game, but after not playing for a couple of months, all my progress was gone. I had invested a lot of time, and losing everything without any explanation was really disappointing. I reached out to the developers, but I haven’t received any reply. It’s very frustrating and discouraging to lose all that progress after spending so much time playing.
I played the game for more than a half year but lost all my progress in a day. Please fix my profile!
