I’ve tried the other games and this has been the best tennis game on Meta as far as simulation goes. It’s not perfect, but I still think it deserves 5 stars and it continues to improve. I’ve been playing for several months on a regular basis and recently got a new patch with even more realistic physics and other improvements including many quality of life improvements which is awesome.
The developer continues to add new features and has said is working on adding doubles mode.
The game has turned into a pure game of chance.
Balls that you used to be able to reach are now practically impossible to get. If you're not standing exactly where the ball is going, you have no chance of reaching it – the avatar is simply too slow.
And we're not talking about completely unreachable balls, but ones you'd have no problem getting to in real life. But by the time the avatar even starts moving, it's already too late. Even if you anticipate where the ball will go and start moving early in the right direction, you still almost never get there.
This has absolutely nothing to do with realism anymore.
It feels like a nightmare: you want to run, but you just can’t move.
If you slow down the avatar, then you also need to slow down the ball – or shrink the playing field to balance it out. The way it is now simply makes no sense. In the previous setup, it was fine and fairly realistic. Now it’s completely unrealistic.
Even if ten, twenty, or a hundred pros tell us otherwise – this is definitely not realistic.
I’ve had this for quite a while now, and this helps me actually improve my form in real tennis. The game is extremely fun, and I always find myself sweating when done. The game has amazing physics, allowing you to aim, and control the spin on your shots. Overall, the best game for tennis out there when it comes to realism.
I'm probably in a small minority of people who use VR tennis exclusively to improve my real life tennis skills. I've owned this game for many years. The physics have been steadily improving, and with version 5.1 I can finally say it's good enough for serious training. I take a weekly lesson with a real coach, and this app allows me to realistically recreate many of the same drills with the ball machine. Hitting with the bot in rally mode also feels very close to the real thing. I switch back and forth between real and VR tennis and I no longer feel a jarring transition. It is more like playing with a different racket and a different person, but still the same game.
I highly recommend this app for tennis training, but if you are serious about it's crucial to have two things: a racket attachment that makes the weight and balance similar to your real racket, and a space large enough to move without any form of artificial locomotion.
The game is really good but please please please make running faster. It feels like I’m jogging to the ball when I need to sprint. If my opponent hits the ball really soft and in a corner then my character just walks to it. It doesn’t seem like it’s running
Good physics and realistic sensations in game.
As aspects to improve, I would like to see better animations and some more personality in the players, but I understand that it is something very expensive to achieve.
Still, it seems to me the best tennis game experience in the store. Good job!
