Needs better explanation

There is some great potential here, but the design of the game controls are clunky. Most importantly, the game also needs a LOT more in-depth explanation...how do I know which enemies are of which element? I haven't been able to find that crucial information.

Also, why did my animal helpers eventually just fall asleep as the enemies just went right past them?

Brilliant game!

Funnily enough I only found out about this game while looking at the upcoming psvr2 games for November December 2024 on YouTube! ( I have a psvr2 headset)

How come I never heard about this lovely game on the Meta Quest from YouTubers who usually advertise all new releases?

It is possible there have been so many releases on the Meta Quest store that Encircled got lost in the midst.

Anyway, I bought it now on the Meta Quest and this game looks gorgeous!
I totally recommend although the developer should add foot sound when the wave starts.

Maybe the Developers need to reach out to the YouTubers to advertise their game as a hidden gem?

Five stars from me, buy it!

Good early access game with potential

07/24 - Just bumped up the rating to 4 stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ because the developer has made the tutorial interactive (#1 resolved) and I love it, could be better but love it, thank you team. I love that the Dev listens to the community and works upon improvements...this is a very positive thing.

Still a few things like a help section (point #2) or something telling you what element each enemy is related to etc would be nice.

** About a month ago...Previous Feedback below and was rated 3 stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Very interesting game and has potential but misses the mark (see details below). Being early access I'm quite surprised that the game is playable without any bugs/issues. Everything works.

I'd like to thank the Dev for the free game for review. I'd rate it a 5 star if the following is addressed.

1. The tutorial is a fast paced video that you have to watch, had to pause it so many times to soak up or catch up on what is being displayed. I prefer an interactive immersive tutorial that teaches you the controls and other stuff in a tutorial gameplay, like most games do out there.

2. The tutorial is lacking information on the enemies and i have to try figure out what element is best suited for each enemy type during gameplay which is a let down. It would be nice to have more information on each enemy and their elements, traits etc as part of the immersive tutorial mentioned in #1

3. The gameplay starts off in an accelerated time. I prefer it to be real time speed and still have the controls to accelerate the time If I choose to. Currently I have to change it to realtime speed each time I play a new game.

4. The enemy size needs to be tweaked a bit. The little fairies are too small and some of the supersized beings are too big, and fast it makes not sense. I mean small should travel fast, big slow, but here the big ones race across the track and fairies are relatively slow. This needs to be tweaked to match the size and speed.

5. The map size needs to be bigger as some of the enemies and defences (towers, I think it should be renamed to suit the character..like defenders not towers) are big and it looks quite cluttered. More space would be nice.

6. And if a bigger map is implemented, throwing in a co-op feature would be awesome because I believe every VR game show atleast have co-op and single player mode as standard, because VR is more fun with friends and family, after all humans are social creatures...

Again I would like to thank the Dev for the game and a chance to review it for you. I hope to see this get further updates and become one of the top 20 games on meta.

I will re-evaluate my review and rating at a later stage or as it progresses further

One for TD fans and fans of capybaras!

Tower defence games aren't what most people think of when they think of VR.
However, Encircled proves that the genre works just as well in VR as any other.

The premise is simple. Monsters come through a portal and follow a predefined path to your base.
Your job is to stop them from reaching your base through the clever placement of defenders.
Every enemy you kill and wave completed you're rewarded with spirit that you can spend on placing more defenders on the map to defend your base!

Defenders range from capybaras to eagles and robots. Each with its own set of pros/ cons and spirit cost.
They remain in the spot you place them and never die, but just continue to do their best to stop the monsters.
Some have long but slow attack speeds, whilst others can knock back enemies momentarily etc etc

Defender can also be upgraded with a branching upgrade path.
Making the right choice on when to upgrade and when to add a new defender is key to success.
If a certain number of them reach your base as dictated by your health bar; then it's game over.
You can also sell defenders at a loss should you want to reposition them or to change defender, better suited to handle the situation (you can only have a limited number of defenders on the map at any one time)

You also have a limited amount of regenerating resources to allow you to use your wand to directly attack monsters. Where you position yourself is up to you.
Do you want to be in the frontline or hang about the back defending the base from straggles that get through.
There's also a nuance to the weapon in that overheating causes an extra lengthy regen time vs if you use it in a small burst.

All of this may sound familiar to TD fans but Encircled Complexity comes with an elemental weakness chart (think pokemon).
All defenders and monsters have a particular element type. Different elements are more effective on different enemies than others.

Your wand also can switch between the elements. The payoff for picking the right element can be the difference between doing double or reduced damage.

The game plays closer like a Dungeon Defenders (3rd person action) than say the bloon series of TD games. Where you still very much play an active role after setting your "towers"

And there are currently 9 different maps that are not only visually different but have different paths to consider.
They all also have their own music track that I personally really like the sound of.

The game also has multiple difficulties to challenge you and vary in the number of enemy waves and ups the ante with even more enemy types including bigger boss like monsters.
Ahere's even an extra spirit master mode, where you challenge maps without defenders! You better brushed up on your elemental types and enemy weakness if you want to play this mode. It almost turns the game into a wave shooter!

There is already a substantial amount of content in the game and I can't wait to see what gets added in future updates.
I can only speculate! New maps? Enemies? Defenders?

Addictive!!

Tower defence game.

I’m Mark from “Meta Quest Promotions, Giveaways and Referrals” page on Facebook… feel free to join.

Loved it.. went in with no expectations…. Couldn’t stop playing it then lol!
So addictive… just one more.. ONE MORE!!!

Controls took me a little while to get used to, but then there was no problems going forward.

Graphics are nice, cute and colourful. Plenty of areas to complete.

Sound is fitting too!

Can place your defences, move them, upgrade them on the fly… find out which are your fave units.

Maybe some slightly bigger maps?

Recommend 👍🏻
