You are a Hunter, a Novice of the Mage Order, an ancestral organization tasked with policing the usage of magic, particularly during the First Kingdoms’ War. You will explore the world of DrakkenRidge and save the kingdom from a dark conspiracy. The world of DrakkenRidge is composed of 5 islands, and many dungeons. The main storyline will take you from beaches surrounded by palm trees to snowy peaks, and you will explore 9 dungeons where danger lurks at every corner. Use swords, axes and shields to fend-off your enemies! Watch out, some will buff themselves to knock your weapons down. Or be sneaky and dispatch your foes from afar with your trusty bow - or the dwarven flintlock pistol. Summon lightning, freeze your foes, then blast them with a fire spell: as you progress through the main story, you will unlock multiple classes of spells that you can combine together for surprising results. It gives me a strong nostalgic feel. Ita a pixelated look but designed beautifully, not that ugly block look I'm not a fan of. There is a tone of content to keep you busy and gameplay feels smooth. Highly recommend.
What if Zelda, Daggerfall and Morrowind have a Baby in VR...
DraggenRidge is beside Asgard's Wrath 2 my favorite Standalone VR RPG of all time, with the big difference that this Gem is Made by a very small Team without the big budget...
The World (Islands, Dungeons) is just beautiful and there is so much to see and interact with....
Climb, Pull levers, ziplines, open Doors, fly with an Eagle, craft, sword fight, bow shooting, magic, interact with NPCs and so on...
You can do Sidequests, go on with the main Story or just explore like in the big RPGs...
The Discord server is active, and the developers are helpful and respond quickly and kindly.
A content update has also been teasert, featuring another completely new island, and the screenshots look fantastic once again.
I really hope this game gets more attention and so more content in the Future!
What I would have liked is a backpack inventory system and deeper RPG mechanics like sleeping to heal, eating, drinking, fishing, but those are just my thoughts and wishes.
Anyone who has even a passing interest in fantasy RPGs shouldn't hesitate to buy this, there's almost nothing comparable for standalone VR.
I gave Drakken Ridge a try and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to pick up. The story and the gameplay pulled me in right away, and the game ran really smoothly—no dizziness at all. This is a big deal for me - other VR games have made me really uncomfortable during and after. It’s a great mix of fun and comfort. Excited to keep working my way through the game.
I don't have loads of time to play but I noticed i have recently spent all my gaming time in VR and that is because of this game. It is super aesthetic and it can be quite a challenge when you are overwhelmed with enemies. The story so far is interesting and having that Skyrim dungeon vibe is nostalgic. The soundtrack, particularly drakken isles, is just fantastic, it hits all the right feels and moments. I'm still yet to finish the game but I have been enjoying it lots. Please keep updating this game, the devs have clearly enjoyed making this. I think i just wanted an option to carry a bigger satchel instead of going back to the inn to store things. But I havent finished so maybe we get one.
I completed it but I think it could use more difficulty settings. Final boss went down with one mana bar of fireballs. I think the weapon system should use holsters, two on shoulders and two on the hips. The game has an amazing atmosphere and vibe, magic system is also very unique. Hopefully the dev will introduce some of the stuff I mentioned
Just finished the 'Main Quest' line and have to say even with the occasional crazy bugs, this game is typical Garage Collective and by that I mean heaps of fun, a lot of people will down vote it for the visual style, but me personally I just love being in these pixel worlds chatting with the curious characters (and there are a lot of characters), everything that the Garage Collective have produced till now has been leading up to this, its just such a fun time and will only get better as the (small) team set out to squash those bugs... and they will!
