This is not D&D in your typical role playing sense, but it is essentially Demeo set in the D&D world and with some extra D&D mechanics built into that. And I LOVE it. It's Demeo with a storyline and it's wonderful.
12/12/25: Since it's still a very new release, there are some bugs that my friends and I have noticed (the occasional "I didn't do that??" when attacking an enemy - it attacks an adjacent enemy - or using a card - it uses an adjacent card - but we've noticed this legitimately only two or three times across over 5 hours of gameplay)
There are also some mechanics and logistics that I think could use refinement! But the game itself is very strong. I know it's always a battle between releasing earlier while people still want the game, vs. releasing later once it's REALLY polished. I'm personally quite happy it's been released as early as it has, even though that's come with some friction for players expecting that Demeo polish - it's getting there. The devs are clearly putting in the work (those December patch notes ??? They're so long!)
In particular I know there's some work being done to the hirelings logistics (particularly for leveling them) in campaigns - that is something I feel like we NEED to see in multiplayer. Or even more ideally, being able to use multiple of our OWN characters that get levels and such, rather than temporary hirelings.
I also just discovered the hard way that you can only have one active campaign at a time ☹️ I really feel like that shouldn't be the case - I started the first campaign with one friend yesterday, and the second with a group of friends today, not knowing it would reset our progress. That's really upsetting that it is the case, and that it wasn't clearly communicated. Not having multiple of the SAME CAMPAIGN makes sense to me, but not being able to run multiple different campaigns? Why? Devs, if you're reading this, please add extra save features for this 🙏 I love this game but only having one campaign running at a time is almost a dealbreaker - it makes it a lot harder for me to be able to play
Looks and plays really well. Great presentation and I love the voice acting. No bugs so far.
Edit
Huge difficulty spike at the Mushroom hollow stage(s). No options to change difficulty. I can't progress any further. It's a shame as I would've liked to see the rest of the game. I give up.
So it IS amazing, well balanced, looks great, cool stories, great gameplay and just generally awesome to play with friends
BUT
1 I think the hireling thing is silly, if we're doing a two man campaign let us have two of our characters each
2 the host/person who has the character that goes first ends up making a lot of the ability checks/decisions I think it would be cool to be able to defer to a friend who's character is better suited
3 one or two level ups seem KINDA underwhelming, like on sorcerer going from "magic dart" which is so cool and useful to "8% chance to reflect attacks but only if they're ranged spells" feels a little bit disappointing
Now despite the kart three paragraphs it is genuinely awesome and I cannot recommend enough
I quickly finished 1st campaign and I hope that won’t finish too early. By that I mean I hope the game is not very short like Moss, etc.
I have to admit it was a brilliant idea to blend Demeo with Dungeons & Dragons. However, I would like to see that my group of heroes has more cards to use or different cards to earn also I can’t change the main heroes so only first one could get all new skillls. I found out that only whe I select pickpocket I can have heroes which I would like to have.
I can’t wait to see when on quest we finally we will be able to watch an animations while characters are talking it’s missing a bit to see characters from close.
The game is great but 4 stars because you always can improve. Remember long story plot!
Not only devs, but whole team made wonderful job. Shout out to all designers, engineers, artists, managers and so on. Even I never been into D&D, demeo, I love spending time in that game. Feels cozy, relaxing and enaging enough after hours spent in work. Had to spent some hours in game to understand better the navigation, and learn some workarounds for little inconviences (like unwillingly dropping spells into trash, rotating table on strange angle) but thats understandable - its a product and its need fair feedback for improvement. Thank you!
Great game and stories with great voice acting, particularly loved the book 2 story it had our group rolling with laughter. This game takes the features i love from demeo and kicks it up a notch giving you a full story campaign with side and main quests and character leveling options and dice rolls or dialog choices that actually can change the story outcome. Once you complete the dungeons in the campaign (2 in each campaign) they are unlocked as quick dungeons giving this multiple hours of campaign gameplay and replayability.
Looking forward to seeing more books in the future, hoping to visit the underdark drow world, that would make a great campaign.
