I have played Red Matter I and II, Lone Echo I and II, and although it is not at that level, I find it enjoyable to play. Graphics are good, and I like having to figure things out - to a point. So far, I have gotten to collecting the 2nd helix, but I am having a hell of a time escaping the robots. As soon as they get you, your right back to the chamber to start over.
My biggest complaint is how the Oculus buttons are set up for use. 1st - Using the grip button is not, and should not, be how you fire a weapon. 2nd - the B button should not be the one used to change the projectiles. This is clumsy, and seems like it was developed by someone who is not used to the Oculus handhelds.
Easy fix?
1st - use the grip buttons for jetting up or down, and the trigger for starting the ship, pulling items with the tractor beam, and changing the projectiles. This is the way most other experiences are set up.
2nd - make the B button as the means of grabbing the gun and use the A button for changing the projectiles. Far easier to make a defense against attacking robots.
The way it is currently set up is not intuitive and is completely unnecessary. At least make it so that the user can choose the option to switch button use themselves.
3rd - (spoiler) it seems like option A in normal mode is typically a dead end? I have played a lot of puzzle games (Riven, Myst, Obduction) but these options seem unsolvable. B options are tough (that's OK) but at least they are solvable given a few try's. This may be on purpose, or I am missing something.
Having read some of the developer responses to the reviews, I hoped that they'd had made some changes, but there very little in the way of instructions and you have to repeat the same level over and over again. Its a shame, this game could be good and I was really looking forward to it, but instead its just frustrating and gets boring very very quickly.
Really enjoyed playing this , I loved jetting around in my suit,
Flying in the ship felt great , my only issue was no snap turn, but I just turned physically so it wasn’t a problem
It took some time to get the hang of controls and getting through missions. Once I got a hang of zero gravity and learned how to access missions, the game really started to pay off. The deep space scene were beautiful, and the dynamic activities kept me going through the game.
A very engaging game, quite easy but a great ecperience!
This game could be great, but it needs control options added. the no space movement is good. i wish i could adjust the rotation speed. as for flight i wish there was an option to flip the left hand controls to the right hand and vice versa. also an ability to toggle inverted pitch on and off would be great.
