Pretty nice Puzzle Game with awesome and creative Environments. Too sad it only took me a bit over an Hour to finish this. More Chapters are coming, i just hope i don't have to wait too long.
Update 11-8-2025
I just played 12. It's also very well-designed. The puzzles aren't too difficult, unfortunately. But the environment and sound make up for it.
It's very well-designed. The atmosphere is well-created. The sounds and gameplay are a good match. The image quality isn't great, but that doesn't make it any less fun. The puzzles are well-designed. Enjoy playing the game.
The trailer for Dark Trip caught my attention instantly and the game became a must-play. Welcome to a psychedelic VR experience like no other. My favorite VR game genre is horror puzzle. But Dark Trip isn't scary nor does it have any jump scares. It's dark and it's trippy. Dark Trip is more like a creepy and edgy escape room puzzle game with a twist. Your mission is to search for clues, solve the puzzles, and escape. But you have the option to ingest psychedelic drugs to enhance the experience and view the rooms from a different perspective. It is possible to solve the puzzles without the psychedelic drugs but what fun is that. But there aren't enough psychedelic pills to experience each room while high so you would have to play the game twice to get the full experience. Bonus points for replayability. The puzzles aren't overly complicated to solve but will get your brain gears turning and eyeballs wandering. The game has teleporting and smooth locomotion. You can play stationary while standing or seated or in roomscale if you have a big enough space. There are currently 12 rooms to solve and escape with more in the works from the developers. Check out my review and walkthroughs on YT @MissChiefVR.
This game is a work of art...it's also an escape room/puzzle kinda thing... but what sets it apart from the others is if you chose to take the pills the whole room transforms, the effects of tripping in VR are just incredible. The puzzles I've encountered so far aren't too hard it's just finding things, I had to cheat to find the hook in the first room but if I wasn't short of time I think I'd have found it eventually.
Looks interesting but unfortunately has too many issues - hopefully will improve- Controls are not intuitive and can’t accomplish basic items like grabbing items I would expect to be able to grab.
The only way to see anything is to turn headset contrast all the way down and brightness all the way up which isn’t ideal to have to adjust at the headset level. The psych double vision effects are overdone and not enjoyable but cannot be disabled. No hints options and not many adjustable settings. Overall while this may be forgiven as a free beta it’s not ok in a paid app even if early access. (Will try again in a few months and update if any significant changes)
This game is amazing, all the Rooms are really enjoyable. 11 in all . They are just right, not to difficult but you do have to think. Realy looking forward to episode 2
