Cool game.

4.5 as it still needs some final touches
Fun to do! Great intro game into VR, as it's seated, with less risk of a nephew jumping into your OLED TV. The narrow game world FOV helps against motion sickness. The cockpit looks great; I do hope they add upgrades for a bigger window in my mech later through upgrades/patches. It also needs some controller adjustments/auto-aim for things up close, as you need to cross your arms sometimes to hit things nearby. It could use some sort of pushback melee.

Thank you for the awesome review! We recently update the game and added a bunch of new upgrades. Hope you have fun with those, I've also sent your suggestions to our idea board so we can check it out! :)

Devs tried to stack too many things.

I wanted to like this game so much because I loved the idea...
Bug: First mission I played solo, my mech shut down and told me to wait for my team mates to revive me.... I was playing alone.
The view port is way to small, you can see max 2 enemies, and there are usually 5-7 attacking you.
Big Bug: Guns are cross-eyed, you literally need to cross your hands to shoot the same target with both guns...
There are no melee or push away options, and you are usually surrounded by 3-4 melee enemies, and you can only see 2 of them because of the small view port, and you can't hit them with both guns to kill them faster. Yes you have a radar, but you can't even catch your breath to read it, enemies are attacking you too fast, too many flashy impact animations, your guns overheat too fast (you can't kill 2 enemies without overheating). And that is jus the first mission after the tutorial !!!
The cockpit has to many controls that could have easily been moved to buttons or options, makes both the cockpit and what's happening way too busy to enjoy.
And the jump lever... why ??? Who thought it was a good ideal to have the jump on a separate action, when the best control metod is 1 joystick going left and right and 1 to step left and right? You can either not turn when you jump or not aim...... your pick.
Solutions:
- Cross-eyed guns: use the gyroscope in the controller to track the controller's position in space, not just relative to the headset. Learn from other games.
- Jump: use X to dash an A to jump, or better yet use pressing on the joysticks to left dash right jump in the direction you choose, allowing you to focus.
- Small View Port: Increase horizontal view, apply fish eye view so you can see more, add the radar in the bottom middle portion of the view.

Thank you for the feedback! I've noted some of these points down to put on the board as actionable feedback when you sent it on discord :) We hear you on that bug as that is not meant to happen (our team is actively fixing it as we speak). For more information on our design for the mech, I recommend you read the devlog entry about how we designed the cockpit: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2666530/view/4133814330191081191?l=english

We could put all the controls on buttons too, but that is not the essence of BIG SHOTS. As it's a game that focusses around cockpit interactions to make you the ultimate mech pilot. Take away the cockpit interactions and widen the viewing angle and you are left with... a game where you play as the Mech, not as a cockpit controlling the mech and that is not our goal.

We hope you'll give our game another (BIG) shot with that in mind, in the mean time. We will work hard to squash that bug! :)

Game is fire

This game is straight gas, and is really fun. The reviews for months ago are outdated and most things complained about have been changed. Also great titanfall reference in the menu room

Fine but could be better

The idea of the game is good and the controls work out pretty well, I mean, I think the either the jump lever could be positioned better. Alternative would be to give players the ability to move it - because sometimes it's always difficult to not punch the chair when I'm reaching for it. Weapons also feel severely under powered even a few hours in, unlocked weapons like the laser and rockets feel weak. I get it, dungeon crawler means you need the upgrades and stuff and other unlocks from playing, but for a giant robot with weapons it shouldn't be so difficult to toast the bosses.

Appreciate you taking the time to share this! The jump lever placement and weapon balance are solid points, and we’ll definitely take a closer look at those. Feedback like yours really helps us make the game better, so thanks for speaking up!
