Initially I left a two star review and planned to request a refund. The game was glitchy. The worst problem was that bot matches didn't keep score and would end abruptly with the shuttlecock frozen on the ground in a red circle, although I could still move around and use the menus.
Much to my relief I've played the game several times since then and it works just fine.
My guess is that the game initialized something during the first run but didn't actually use it until the next time it launched. Hopefully it's just a random glitch.
The graphics look great, the game controls very well, and it's a lot of fun to play. It brings back fond memories of playing badminton in the back yard as a child.
The art direction is excellent! It's one of those games that makes me wish Nintendo would get into VR.
I'm hoping now that it's out for PSVR2 it'll get more coverage on YouTube, (that's how I discovered it), and sales will increase.
It must be frustrating launching a decent game in the Quest store then hoping someone will discover it buried under the avalanche of shovelware and Gorilla Tag knock offs.
Meta please remove all the garbage from the main store and add a trash can icon to keep the shovelware separated from the decent games.
The kids can root through the trash bin for their Gorilla Tag knock offs and the rest of us won't have to scroll past countless poorly drawn gorilla thumbnails in the store.
Pretty fun little game, but could use some features as auto run and left handed support fixed.
The game is good to play. Physics are ok. Need some work. You can't really pull off any tippy tappy net shots that happen in badminton. I would also like an automatic move option. I like the art style but really needs more adult features. So far this game seems to be aimed at the younger gamer. Dev's could you please add some more adult gameplay. First of all a normal badminton court in an arena as an option. I like the court's and location but it's all a bit cartoony. I would also like the ratchets to look a bit more realistic and an automatic move option. But otherwise well done so far.
I bought the game after watching reviews from YouTubers. It's a very good arcade badminton game. It's arcade because there is no real striking power. Even if you "hold" the racket against the shuttlecock, it flies over the net. But that's okay; you just need to know that in advance. This also makes the game very easy to pick up.
Graphics, sound, and gameplay are all good for a VR game (fun fact it seems there is also a switch version). However, there is one thing I'm wondering: is there really a working multiplayer mode, or is it "fake"? I never found any other players, and no games are shown in the past matches. Even worse: In the leaderboard, there's exactly one player with a game "ptibisciut". And this player is always shown in all the YouTube reviews when the leaderboards are displayed. If this is a bug, please fix it.
The title of my review says it all. I went into this game expecting it to be another racket-type sports game but this is so much more than that! It's like badminton VR game meets Mario Party?? There's arcade mode, which allows you to have "super powers" while you play against either AI or friends, there's mini games that aren't even badminton anymore, but more like Mario Party mini games (super fun but quite challenging), and there's also tournaments, training mode, tons of different environments, lots of avatar customizations -- like seriously, the more you dig into this game, the more you find. It's like a treasure trove of features and game modes and all of it is incredibly polished. Really well done!
By the time you read this, I should have a proper review up on my youtube channel if you want to see more. @vrwithjasmine on youtube :)
Variety of locations is good, colour and style of the game is good, the mini games are a nice edition but the physics are bad and the difficulty options are unbalanced and just bad,
The game doesn't run as well as it should which is odd considering what game it is but i have good eyes so i noticed it where others perhaps may not,
The powerups are a good idea but in practice are more annoying and detract from the fun and i couldn't spot an option to turn them off for a game either, also the arena/play area seems too small (atleast to me) but with the physics being Wonky that makes it feel even worse,
It isn't "Fun" and thats the key here nd its missing that, i cannot use the left Analogue stick to move and play with the right controller in VR it just doesn't work for me its not natural, where is the option to auto move ie tennis vr games? Its an option that should be here,
In real life i can move nd play but in vr i cannot use the left controller to move and also play with the right and think/predict where i need to be in the space, it sounds odd but in vr you need some form of "auto help" the physics are just not right, deceptively quick at times where its impossible to reply with a return shot,
Theres Alot of potential here but im not convinced this studio will turn this around, it needs physics adjustments, controls options and other options/customization for games/play style, the engine needs some optimization, the AI difficulty needs to be fine tuned, i think abit bigger of a play area/arena would be good aswel ie default and bigger option,
Those are my suggestions, i will NOT request a refund, I'd rather wait and give the devs the benifit of the doubt and the chance to fine tune the game, yeah so Potential is there, fix the gameplay first and when the game is in a better state, then new maps & mini games etc as dlc definitely being possible, when the game is "Consistently Fun" then DLC will extend the life of the game,
