This app lets you experience a drum set performance in VR. It also serves as a 3D frontend for the Aerodrums instrument, letting you see your drum kit, sticks and feet in virtual reality.

When connected to Aerodrums, you will have the ability to reposition your drum kit pieces in 3D, navigate your music playlist, enable a metronome, record your performances and switch between drum kits.

Good beta for Aerodrums VR

I think the description should be clearer that this is an app for owners of Aerodrums air drumming kit. The low review score makes me sad :(

This is a still rather limited and work-in-progress app for you to physically see your air drums when you're playing with your Aerodrum setup. So not a standalone drumming app. If you want that, there are some possible alright PCVR apps and Paradiddle is also worth checking out.

Now I have to say that this is what I was hoping I could do with VR. I've sold off my electric drum set years ago, don't have space for one, and don't have access to a real drum kit anymore. I often air drum while listening to music and it makes me miss being able to play and hit something that makes a real drum sound and also let's me have the drums be where they would be in a real drum kit.

So when I finally got into VR recently, I of course went and bought every app that even vaguely hinted at drums, When they were actually drum instruments and not guitar hero clones, there was always an unbearable latency on Q3. Even with the built in speakers.

Just unplayable and hitting drums always felt unresponsive. Having to use the controllers also gave a wrong feel to the playing. Since Quest 3 isn't able to track your feet or legs, you usually have to press a button on the controller for hi-hat and bass.

Enter Aerodrums where you use actual drum sticks with surprisingly precise motion controls and motion detection. It makes you able to hit air drums in very dynamic ways and gives you the most realistic way to air drum you can imagine.

But you don't see the drums without a headset. There is a kind of a graphic of your drum setup on your PC that tells you where you need to hit for every piece of the kit. While it works and a lot of drummers have clearly been able to learn it fast, I really wanted to see virtual drums to hit.

And now they have this kinda bare bones app that does exactly that! It's like a dream come true!

this is not a game its for hardware kit

had to write a review because of people saying this app is bad i havent tried it yet but know that this in itself is not a drumming game it is to enhance a virtual hardware drumkit known as aerodrums unless they have changed it from last i looked this only works with the aerodrums kit which cost £150-$200 i plan to buy aerodrums end of the month for my recording setup as i dont have the space for a real digital kit and a real digital kit doesnt sound as rich and dynamic please do not label this app as bad because you dont understand this is not a game its a tool for drummers who own the aerodrums hardware

Warning: not a drum game.

I got this expecting a drum game. It was not that. It was so disappointing, that I immediately deleted it. It puts you in front of a drum and plays the same repetitive song over and over. You can’t do anything at all expect for listening. You see blue hands with drum sticks playing the drums, but that’s all. Nothing else at all. don’t get this.

EDIT: looking back, this review was stupid. Apologies. I have changed my rating to 5 stars.

Thanks for your feedback - Aerodrums 3D is primarily a companion app for the Aerodrums instrument (purchased separately) that augments it with a VR frontend. Aerodrums provides a very low latency, high fidelity drumming experience that tracks both hands and feet and it would not be possible to replicate this experience using the Quest hardware alone.

This requires additional hardware!!

This app requires the Aerodrums kit which can be purchased from their website or where I got mine, on Amazon.

It comes with reflectingdrumsticks and foot pads, a light, and a ps3 camera. I use mine along with my pc. I think they have both an android and iPhone app, but I could be wrong about that.

Tracking is ok in the vr app.

I wish the developers of smash drums and Drums Rock would get together with the Aerodrums maker, because adding foot pedals in those games would be awesome

Why can’t I play the drums?

Why did they trick me?
I thought I can play the drums!
I don’t want to keep listening to the same music over
and over again!
I wish they did better than this!
This is driving me crazy…
