never have I played a video game that was so good that I cried
Part 1 was an absolute masterpiece and easily a 5 star game. The storytelling of part 2 is also great. But the mechanics how to control your hands are killing all the fun for me. Even knowing what to do it took me 15-30 minutes to finish some rather simple (or meant to be simple) tasks. I was fighting myself through to chapter 3, but now i give up and uninstall the game. It‘s too annoying to always be stuck with those crazy controls. Im sure there are others who can handle it better than me. But for me it has been a waste of time and money.
This is the 2nd time i cried from a game i still am as i am writing this ( first was before your eyes) this game is great get it
Now, stop me if you have heard this one before…what a game.
Amazing environments. Gameplay is very clever but the story oooh the story pulls you in and connects you to the fisherman’s family beginning to end. Excellent writing and allegories to real life make this continuation a worthy one! I’ll be happy to pay full price for chapter 3 if it’s this good😊
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GAME. Both of them but #2 was just perfect. Longer and more complex and more emotional. I felt so invested in the story and so immersed in it. Had some tougher challenges that I had to put it down for and go back but it just made me more satisfied when I got through. Thanks Devs. Hoping for a 3rd!
My partner and I love a puzzle game, and a Fisherman's Tale was one of our favourite ever. The puzzles were ingenious, thoughtful and - once you'd worked them out - easy to implement. And, of course, the game was beautiful and enchanting.
This second game is also as beautiful and enchanting, and the story is engaging and moving too. But then, the 'hands'...
What starts out as a lovely idea gets more obtuse along the way. Judging by other reviews, not everyone has this problem, but for us the mechanics gradually impact the play until it becomes, literally for us, unplayable.
We spent nearly an hour, in the 'Hull' in Chapter 3, trying to get the hand onto the lock on the hatch. Try as we might, we couldn't manoeuvre the hand across the ceiling to do so - and it contuinually got stuck in the back corner, unable to move, which meant we had to start the whole task again - all the while being intermittently told by the 'hint' what we should be looking for, when we'd already found it!
As I said, we love a good puzzle, and one of the joys of gaming is trying various possible solutions, or maybe just sitting baffled, until the answer is reached. One of the very-much-lesser joys is when designers introduce a mechanic that is clunky and awkward to use, and leave the player to deal with the frustration; in the first place, it cuts the immersion, and in the worst case - ours - you may decide to give the game up, surmising that hours of your one life on earth shouldn't be taken up by dealing with difficult/faulty design choices.
So - given that there is no 'skip section' or work-around option - that's what we've done, which is a great shame. As I said, a beautiful game, spoiled somewhat...
