This would have received 5 stars IF IT WOULD PLAY NETFLIX. Oh and Foxtel. Seriously, it's 2025 - why and how can this app not play Netflix????? It is the massive elephant in the room that makes this app not a serious contender and leaves you disappointed in the end.
The app description promoted more than what it actually offers. It’s simply a web browser. To date, the best shared viewing/streaming app is still Bigscreen.
The app is a good idea in theory. However it just doesn't work well. Too many services just don't work or are buggy and for those that do the quality is too low to want to use a huge screen.
It was advertised as having support for many streaming services in a way that sounded like it was native/unique in-app support. It’s not. It’s a web browser. And not that great. It’s just a limited shell of Chrome. It offered no benefits over than the Meta Browser. It doesn’t support Paramount+ (neither does Meta). And it doesn’t support local media.
It’s a $10 web browser with limited functionality. With no free/testing version. No refunds. I used it twice. It even says internet connection not required. Would be very interested in hearing how that works.
The TV quality is spectacular and their browser supports video players that aren't supported on the meta 3 browser such as slingtv. The only thing that could make it better if it was usable in other apps.
Who needs a Ray Neo, Xreal, Virture XR glasses if one has meta quest 3 and Spatial TV app. I believe the max screen size is almost 200 inches with good clarity with high streaming quality and Wi-Fi speed.
The $4 flowing special effects around screen is okay but is optional because the default one is also okay. The app admin should allow more than 60 secs to decide for a purchase. Like 3 sessions of 5 mins. If anyone is keeping the effect for 15 min they gonna buy it. Taking the decision to buy for a 60 sec one time demo is tough and so will be negative for many. So app admin and dev team, do keep this in mind for future updates.
The choices of streaming apps is too limited. One star less is for that reason only. App admin and dev team should understand that meta quest nowadays is used in many countries besides USA. BTW I am from India. So a android playstore type integration to download and enjoy any streaming service available in the country is extremely important for the good app to become a blockbuster app. And FYI app admin and dev team the browser provided don't support any streaming service. Whenever I tried I get the error message - Please visit chrome/settings/content/protected content and make sure " Sites can play protected content" is selected. But there is no setting available in the browser provided in the app to enable protected content. So Dev team either give customers the option to install any streaming app or update your browser to support any streaming service. App admin this is most important for your next upgrade and continuous earnings.
The streaming services desired by me are Netflix, Jiohotstar, Zee5, SonyLiv, MX player, Docubay, Jiocinema, TVFplay in order of preference. So please get us Netflix atleast ASAP.
