Started a new journey with Sketchup

I had never used Sketchup till recently when I could not afford other software due to losing my job and forceful retirement, I checked around and found Sketchup for web a free version that is very powerful and it got me rolling on a new journey, then when working I thought of viewing my model in VR and I got Sketchup viewer and I could actually view my work in a size, with this I can see numerous possibilities of me getting back to work freelancing and giving clients a real feel of “what they see is what they get” , and also this would be really great for not just my Makerspace but also when trying out new designs.
The software is a bit slack on big drawings or maybe my drawings were murky so exiting the drawing seemed to have a bug.

Maybe something the developers could look at a later stage

Amazing but could be even better

Graphics quality appears lower than the browser version but without the lags . Some materials were severely altered in color. Navigation is ok without any dizziness issues.

BUT, having such a tool to review and present your work for free is truly amazing!

Hi Patriant, Thank you for the feedback. Please share with us at xr@sketchup.com some screenshots of how the colors were altered between your model in the browser and in the Quest, along with the sketchup files so we can investigate. Thank you, Aris

Need to explore with customer same time

I already love the immersive experience, but I can’t find a way to have a customer with me inside of a model at the same time. The app description mentions that it is possible but I just simply can’t. There is no video tutorial or any explicative info about it. Please helpppp.

Hi RayoSereno, thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately there is currently no real-time collaboration functionality available that would allow you and your customer to "meet" inside the model. I am not sure about the specific part of the description you are referring to but i apologize if that was misleading. The option you have is to cast your Quest on your mobile app, or a chromecast screen and thus be able to see what your customer sees in VR. Additionally I would suggest you set up your Scenes in SketchUp first, and then enter the "Presentation mode" inside the Quest app to make it easier for your customer to navigate the model while preventing them from wandering around. Pro tip: Enable "Lock" inside the Presentation mode which will allow you to change scenes with a simple swipe of the controller's thumbstick while your customer can simply wear the headset and watch the scenes you are changing using the controllers; no instructions and no onboarding required!
