Dev -thanks for clarifying

**Update**
What I found limiting is not the fault of the app but of Meta's security precautions. While this app is not was I was seeking, this app does what it does very well.
**

I was given an IP code which I entered and was able to pull up my internal file folders as stated.

I could access basic folders like my Music folder but couldn't access app file folders and was given a 500 internal server error every time. And my headset was on and awake the whole time.

I need to access app folders to create new custom song folders to add music files to.

What can be done to fix this server error?

Also, I'm given a non-encrypted url where I enter my login info on a web browser. Is that safe?

The error isn’t a bug — Quest doesn’t let one app open another app’s private files. You’ll only be able to use shared folders (like Music) or the app’s own import feature. And don’t worry about the login at home, but avoid using it on public Wi-Fi.

Just what I was looking for

Struggled to get file transfer working using a USB C cable. Worked once with v74 system but hasn't worked since the upgrade to v76.
Found this app and works a treat. Simply run the software in the headset and start the server, then in a web browser on your phone or tablet enter the IP address and it opens all the file folders on the quest. You can then browse for files on your device and upload them to the chosen folder on the Quest.
Notes for developer - I've not yet managed to get a file manager app such as CX File Explorer to accept the IP/port/username/password to connect using SMB/FTP/WebDAV etc which would be useful so that the files could be handled within the file manager app rather than download/upload from a web URL. Also it would be useful to be able to create new folders in the Quest, but doesn't seem possible, but again this could be done via a file manager app.
Anyway, great app and solves the problem I had.

Thank you so much for the detailed feedback and kind words! We're really glad to hear the app solved your file transfer issues. 😊

Regarding your note — the core idea behind Simple File Server is to make file transfers work without relying on any third-party apps. That’s why we’ve focused primarily on the built-in web interface rather than SMB, FTP, or WebDAV support.

As for creating folders, you can do that directly in the browser — just click the ‘+’ icon at the top left of the page (just above the folders and files section). That will allow you to create new directories on your Quest.

Thanks again for using the app — we appreciate your thoughtful suggestions! 🙌

Won't install on ipad

Trying to upload files from ipad to oculus. This app will install on this phone (iPhone 15 pro max) but will not install on my ipad, and that’s where my 360 video files are.

Works like a charm

Does what it promises. And does well. The UI is simple and setting up the whole thing is easy. I transferred a few items to my Quest and had no issues.

Great idea but 'upload fails' - a lot.

Straightforward and does an important job well when it works. But high incidence of 'upload failed' messages which seem to result from server switching itself off - not sure why.

Thanks for the feedback! The "upload failed" issue happens because Oculus devices have a restriction — they don't allow apps to run in the background when the screen is off. To keep the server active, make sure your headset's screen stays on while using the app. If the issue persists, feel free to reach out!
