Shapelab Lite '25 is the latest annual release in the Shapelab Lite series which brings the essential features of the acclaimed Shapelab PCVR app to standalone VR at a more accessible price, carefully adapted for devices with lower processing power. All versions receiving updates until the end of their release year. As part of this cycle, Shapelab 2025 will continue to be improved with updates throughout 2025 before the next version arrives in 2026.

Designed for immersive 3D sculpting, Shapelab offers an intuitive interface to freely shape ideas in 3D space with enhanced control. From basic forms to complex designs, Shapelab enables you to create detailed props, characters, and digital concepts for applications, games, and virtual worlds. VR sculpting creates a unique level of engagement, offering faster workflows and greater precision.

Built on a polygon mesh foundation, Shapelab Lite also includes dynamic topology, enabling on-the-fly adjustments of detail by tessellating or decimating polygons, adding flexibility where detail is needed. On standalone devices, users may notice performance limitations, with framerate drops around 1.5 million polygons. To maintain performance, reduce polygon counts with low-resolution brushes or decimate the model using the Mesh Density tab.

It's okay, but not enough in this form

It's much like Blender rather than ZBrush imo. It's okay, but not enough.

Passed, but not enough

The MR function is very good, the PBR process is very good, and the sculpture function is very good.
But cannot import textures?Transform low precision models in the game into high-precision models, It would be quite convenient to modify along the texture.I don't understand. If there are UV issues during the editing process, can baking the texture to a fixed point during import solve this problem?
Moreover, voxels cannot be continuously added. When I want to create a shape from scratch, I need to repeatedly press the trigger for each cube or sphere. Can you imagine that you need to pull the trigger dozens or even hundreds of times just to create a sketch? This is too foolish.
Thirdly, it does not support importing new voxels. When I want to create details in bulk, like dragon scales or bird feathers? I can only copy the same part countless times and then move it repeatedly. This is not good.
In short, this is a feature that I urgently need, and I still recommend this software to you. I am not stingy with praising its advantages, but I want it to be better.

Hi there,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback on Shapelab Lite. We truly appreciate your thoughtful comments and we're also sorry for the delayed reply!

We want to acknowledge both your praise and your concerns, as they are very valuable to us and help guide our development.

To address some of your technical points:

Polygon Mesh vs. Voxels
Shapelab Lite is built around a proprietary polygon mesh-based engine — this allows for highly detailed and production-ready sculpting with strong control over topology and performance. This is a core strength of our application, especially for professionals working on organic modeling and scan-based workflows. However, we understand your frustration when trying to build up forms from scratch like with voxel-based systems — polygon engines are not ideal for "volume drawing" as voxel sculpting is.

Voxel Engine Availability
We're happy to share that we’ve already started bridging this gap. A secondary voxel sculpting engine has been developed and is currently available in our PCVR version of Shapelab. This allows for more intuitive massing and faster sketching. The standaloneVR (android) version of Shapelab for Quest doesn’t include voxel sculpting yet.

Model Import and Custom Cursor Features
3D Model importing is supported in both Shapelab Lite and Shapelab PCVR: FBX, OBJ, STL, GLB. However, using custom models as brushes or cursor stamps (as in bulk detailing like scales or feathers) is a feature currently only supported in the PCVR version. That said, your use case is absolutely valid and something we’re looking into expanding to a standaloneVR (android) version of Shapelab.

Once again, we sincerely thank you for your honest review. We’re truly grateful you still recommend our software, we’re working hard to make it even better for artists like you.

Kind regards,
Daniel from the Shapelab Team

MY FIRST REVIEW FOR ANY VR GAME.

❤️FIRST.... PLEASE make it multiplayer!!

SECOND.... It reminds me of blender.
This is bloody amazing. The amount of creations I have made here is just brilliant.

...but please make it multiplayer, because me and friends want to join each other and create with one another. ❤️

Wonderful to be in, with my model

I struggle with manipulation of models on a desktop, it’s just not intuitive enough. Shapelab changes that, and whilst it does need work, the ability to easily drag the model , scale it, manipulate and modify it as though it’s a piece of clay in my hands is invaluable and well worth it. Some tools don’t appear to do much at all, or perhaps are too similar in their actions to others, but that can just be as I’m new to it and need more time in the app.

Best sculpting app on VR!

I had no idea that it would work on my quest 2 too. Im happy now! Its not the full version but still great! I didnt want always to connect to my pc to sculpt so this lite version made it easier now to do it anywhere i want without cables. Freedom! When i want more features and details i will transfer my models to full pcvr version of the app.

I'm thrilled!

Recently, my powerful laptop burned out. I had been using ShapeLab Pro on it paired with VR Quest 3. Now that it's gone, I discovered that I can use ShapeLab Lite and still enjoy sculpting without needing a powerful laptop. Thanks for this release! The only thing I really miss is a Dynamesh/Remesh feature—would that be possible in ShapeLab Lite? For example, when pulling out tentacles that intersect, I'd love if they automatically merged into one shape, or at least to have a brush that smooths out and merges intersections, similar to how adding cubes, spheres, and other objects automatically merges intersections.
