I can't wait to play Beat Saber everyday. It's fun by myself or with several friends.
It's great exercise and keeps you moving to the beat of the music.
Tbh I forgot I bought this when I was looking for workout games that would hit the trifecta of full movement exercises, satisfying gameplay and the ability to use it with the music I love. This is near perfect. I don’t doubt once I tinker around with the options as I play more it will incorporate into my fitness routine nicely…AND No bloody subscription. I really like it!
Admittedly I am not a fan of some of the graphical decisions (ie the tunnels), the other features outweigh this. Right off the bat you can import your own music, change the in-game features and it has an inbuilt editor. It's great. No subscription and add-ons are reasonably priced.
Perfect blend of music, agility, fitness and cool environments! Very highly recommended!
I love 2 things about it: you can upload your own music, and you can customize the task.
The graphics are attractive (A). Plenty of customization, but missing some critical options (B). The songs are very generic, but not awful (C-). The basic game only comes with a small collection of songs - less than DDR or Rock Band (C-). Some programmed ball and obstacle patterns are fun, some just do the job, and some feel unnatural. The worst part is when the balls fly straight at your face and you can't see what's coming behind them because the balls are opaque (C-). The best part of the game is the ability to import your own music and play random patterns timed vaguely to the beat. The beat auto-detect system is trash but the customizing controls let you set the correct beat speed and offset (expect to spend some time doing this for every song). After playing this for several weeks, I've had to remove 50% of my songs because I just can't get the beat to match and I don't like it when the ball hits aren't timed with the music beat. Setting custom songs to not use crouching (horizontal walls, tunnels, etc.) also removes bad balls (which are fun to hit with my shield) but still send balls at crouch level - if I leave crouching on but turn off horizontal walls and tunnels in the basic game settings, I have frequent spaces of nothing where the non-existent horizontal walls and tunnels would have been - so I am forced to either crouch with obstacles, tolerate lots of boring empty space so I can have bad balls, or play with a less interesting set of obstacles. Why wasn't the attention to detail in other parts of the game applied here? In summary, custom music is doable but takes a lot of work to set up and isn't as customizable as it appears (C+). Overall, the game is playable, but I think you'll get frustrated and bored with it fairly quickly unless you either pay for more songs/patterns (are they worth it?) or upload your own music (and spend time customizing).
