On January 13th 2018, 1.4m people across Hawai’i received an SMS from the state’s Emergency Management Agency:
BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
In the minutes that followed, they were forced to confront existential questions that had been unthinkable just moments before: where could they go for shelter? What would remain of their communities if they survived a nuclear blast? How could they explain to their children why we live in a world where such unimaginable destruction was possible? And how could their own Government continue to pursue nuclear policies that threaten the entire global population every day?
By the time FEMA managed to retract the incorrect warning message, it was too late to pretend that normality would resume. Their collective experience had laid bare the growing threat that nuclear weapons pose to the world. In the words of Kauai resident Cynthia Lazaroff, ‘Nothing happened, but everything changed’.

Loved this important immersive and unusual experience. Very interesting merging of an important global issue but made from a local cultural stance. Immersive experiences like these are a good way to make us look and think about these important global issues. Well done!
This short film moved me. Incredibly powerful experience into a life changing event. Incredibly relevant to the current climate in 2025. Everyone on earth should watch this film.

Thought this was brilliant.Really well put together.
I literally felt the emotions of all these people. I was surrounded by fear and uncertainty about what to do. I found myself wondering how I would spend my last moments on earth if this happened to me. I hate living in a time when humanity could wipe itself out at any moment within minutes...
Pros: +Good visuals............
+Interesting story on the 2018 Hawaii false missile alert............
Cons: -Heavy-handed on the angsty emotional content, to a fault.......
-Conclusion is weak and naive...........
If you are looking for a nuclear bomb explosion simulator, keep moving along, this ain't it. If you are looking for an angsty, Hawaiian take on the 2018 Hawaii false missile alert, you have found the right place.
It is only my personal opinion that the developers fail to conclude their final argument with any kind of strength because they went overboard with personal emotion, and portions where they stopped speaking English and spoke in a Hawaiian island dialect instead(without subtitles). If you are looking to change the world and have everyone scrap their nuclear weapons, you are going to have to bring much stronger rationale than what you have prepared here. Also, I did not care for the developers attempt to redefine what an act of violence is. Just to remind you, possessing a nuclear weapon for deterrent purposes is in itself -not- an act of violence, according to the global definition of it.
