I love this concept but it is not working at this time. The microphone is not connecting and a major tool requires it. The post a notes are written by voice command. Until this is working again, this app has no value. Help us devs!
Additionally. I am not sure if this will work with Spanish. I would love it if it did.
Will watch for updates
Naer fulfils the promise to integrate pleasant virtual environments with your 2D workspace by effortlessly integrating Miro. Discuss matters with your remote team in an amusing 3D space, throw notes on to the board - and these magically appear in your Miro board on your laptop - absolutely excellent. Easy to use, well designed - and fun!
I work with facilitating workshops and last year or so I have explored a bunch of VR facilitation and collaboration apps. Naer is my favorite! The environment and avatars are like fantasy art (floating mountains, waterfalls from the sky, etc) and gives a unique atmosphere for group discussions. We have had some great sessions around the camp fire especially! Perhaps most important: the sound works great (spatial, hardly ever lags, even when we have been 10+ people), moving around is intuitive even for VR newbies and we quickly get a real feeling of presence together. I look forward to having more rooms to choose from and explore with groups going forward! Really recommend everyone to try with a group!
Naer has quickly become my go-to VR tool for collaborative work with my team. Its slightly cartoonish look initially made me skeptical, but I soon realized that this simplicity is its strength. The integration with Miro boards is seamless, and everything updates in real-time, which is a game-changer. I love how intuitive the interface is; using paint buckets to change note colors and a 3D microphone for dictation feels so natural. The Meta avatars are a nice touch, keeping things fun yet functional. Plus, it’s free! Naer has made remote teamwork not just efficient but genuinely enjoyable.
So I want to love this app. I find the basic features very useful and think it's pretty good and woild love to be able to completely remoce the sticky notes from my desk. My issues? Well, first of all I experienced a bug. I cannot erase one of the boards I drew on due to a network connection issue that occurred while I used the app. Originally it kept saying "disconnected from server" but somehow I fixed that. But the squiggles won't leave no matter what.
So I remade the room which leads me to my next issue. You cannot delete rooms in this app. I've tried on both the app in the headset and in a browser. No luck. Also with Miro integration you can put up pictures, but they can never be removed once you grab them. If you grab the picture it will disappear from thr Miro app and you will not be able to remove it from thr Naer app because you can't "poof" them like you can with sticky notes. Even if you disconnected the Miro for that room you'll then be left with a grey rectangle or square, whatever shape the picture was.
These are issues that need to be fixed before this can be considered a complete application. I'm not saying it's easy, I know programming is difficult, especially when you throw VR into the mix. But the rooms should be removable. That is a very basic feature.
Update: some of the original issues have been fixed. You can delete rooms easier now which solved my issue. Looks like they're working on or have fixed several of my other issues as well.
Current Review:
The Dev team responded and a group of us from the Facebook Workrooms Community finally got in to test out the app--we also got to hang out with a Naer representative, so that was cool. We all had a good time, it worked pretty well for group conversations and throwing ideas on a whiteboard.
As a group we didn't explore the Miro integration, but I've done that separately and thought that was a cool feature. It seamlessly brings your VR work back into your business reality.
The environment is pleasant and even accommodates for some "limited" audio space--i.e., participants can separate to far area of the space and have a conversation without disturbing the others. No way yet to have a completely private conversation though--hopefully in the future :)
First Review:
Would love to try it... The first launch was just all black, so I quit the app. On subsequent launches all I get is the spinner of death with the status "Dialing it in...", nothing ever happens--I've waited minutes.
An uninstall / re-install did not fix anything...
