I've been testing VR meditation apps since 2017 and owned about everything available until 2022. I mention that solely to put this review in perspective as I'm very much aware of both the good and bad in these types of apps. This app is pretty good and definitely worth grabbing due to the low price. That said, if you're new to meditation, this app doesn't reflect more traditional breath work, instead focusing primarily on invoking a calm, guided experience employing breath without providing an introduction to the various styles. Still, it's a pleasant experience and provides an effective experience overall. Voice narration is good. The graphics are low-poly with a beautiful color palette. Although I like the low-poly style, the textures seem to be low resolution and have quite a bit of aliasing so there are a lot of jagged edges that are distracting. Regardless, this app is pretty decent for what it is and worth picking up due to the low cost. If you're experienced in meditation this is a great option to augment your broader practice. If you're new to it, it's worth grabbing too--I'd just recommend also getting a free app (like Flowborne) to also familiarize yourself with breath work.
Firstly, I picked this up for a quid in the sales, I'm keeping that in mind. It was inexpensive (even at full price), and I'm factoring that in to the 4 out of 5 stars. Overall it's quite a nice little meditation app. You currently get four, ten minute or so, guided meditations. Each with their own crudely animated environment, and music. The meditation narration is really really nice, the music is nice, the app works as well as one could hope, BUT, the environments are pretty ugly all around. They're saved somewhat by the nice use of colour in places. But even for low poly, still really ugly. If they could pretty this up even just a little, it would go a long way. But still, for the price, it's alright. Worth a go if you're feeling stressed or whatever! :)
Looking at the screenshots of low-poly landscapes I wasn't expecting much, but this turned out to be an unexpected gem. Really nicely put together; you can tell that care went into each unique environment, exploration path, and guided meditation. Overall a very gentle and joyful experience. I know I'll be returning again and again.
It was also nice to hear an Irish accent narrating the meditations: unexpected and different and a reminder of home! The triskelion carving in the forest was a nice touch, and the basalt columns in the 'volcano' environment remind me of the Giant's Causeway, whether intended or not :)
A couple of observations for the developers: the transition from above to below the water in the 'beach' environment was quite abrupt and broke the immersion for me for a while. Also, in the same environment, it was a little odd to be told I was "leaving the sounds of nature behind" to replace them with "the sounds, and silence, of the sea", when the sea is also 'nature'. Minor points, though. Congrats on a great app. Hope to see more from this developer.
I've tried a number of VR Meditation apps and this one is really good. Love the different environments, and each one feels really different. Recommend!
