The American Red Cross offers lifeguard training courses year-round, working with local partners to provide science-based training that combines hands-on, classroom, and online instruction for lifeguards working in a pool and waterfront setting. A large component of lifeguarding involves cognitive skills such surveillance and visual scanning to identify distressed swimmers and drowning people. However, it is challenging to simulate the distractions and environmental factors necessary for this training in a classroom or online training environment. This virtual reality experience created by the ARC Innovation team aims to train future lifeguards in core cognitive skills such as drowning identification.

I love this and feel it was a well worthwhile investment. I would love to see the water park and water front modules as well as a CPR application
New to life guarding, being unexperienced, getting this helped me able to see how lifeguarding would be in the real world, obviously not 1 to 1 compared to the real world, but it helps you understand what to look for, and how to look for hits instantly, if your new to lifeguarding, or just need more practice without actually being at a pool, this game is perfect for you.
Utilized this for a lifeguard in-service and it was well received. I haven't figured out the function to review training results, but we used the time it took them to identify and activate the EAP as a benchmark for future training. Looking forward to updates that include waterfront and aquatic attractions.
