Experience the Ages of Cinema. Film history becomes a place you can explore.
KINEMA VR is a virtual reality film museum. From the lobby of a grand movie palace, you enter seven halls, each representing a different era:
• Pre-cinema (1830–1890): a fairground tent featuring fully functional optical toys—magic lantern, thaumatrope, zoetrope, praxinoscope, kinetoscope, mutoscope, and camera obscura.
• Early Cinema (1895–1910): load the reel into the cinematograph and start the projection.
• Silent Cinema (1910–1927): a Belle Époque theater hall complete with stage curtain.
• Golden Age (1935–1960): an Art Deco palace featuring a projection booth and a screen that changes format.
• Drive-in (1950s): grab the pole-mounted speaker and watch the movie under the stars.
• IMAX (1970s onwards): the giant screen experience.
• Digital & 3D (1999 onwards): put on your dual-color glasses.
In each hall, you can screen films: 18 audiovisual pieces created to evoke the style of each era, displayed in the format and on the screen typical of that time. The KINEMA Assistant guides you with a hall map, a movie schedule, and the history of each era.
Movement is handled via teleportation and snap-turning; play standing or seated. Controls work with either controllers or hand tracking.
