Control control! You must learn control!

This is a really great app, but I’m not gonna use it because it only has movement by teleport with snap turning. This cannot be adjusted in any way. Well, there’s hand tracking, but don’t get me started on how inadequate that is in every app that tries it. The “settings” screen has like 2 buttons on it. There are apparently a ton of people who get motion sickness from smooth controls. But what no one seems to recognize, is that some of us get motion sickness from the teleporting. It is extremely disorienting and disconcerting to abruptly appear and disappear. I’m not saying get rid of the teleporting, I’m saying provide options for everyone. It’s darn near standard to have all these options in almost every game. I can’t imagine it’s much more complicated than implementing a couple APIs that Meta probably provides for free. So when this is not present, it just makes the devs look lazy. there have been a couple of updates since several response posts to reviews like this one, but there are still no movement options.

You didn’t have to make this choice for us and I feel like this is indicative of the problems with this app. It’s too prescriptive. You added the explore feature which I appreciate. But I saw another reviewer complaining that they could only access the first module of each program. The developer response was that the user needed to make sure they had finished every last second of the video before the app would give her credit for finishing it and let her move on. Whether or not that fixed her problem, the point is that we don’t need the app to do this for us. We don’t need some algorithm to tell us when we’re ready to move on. We’re not children and you don’t know how experienced we are with meditation outside the app. Let US choose the module that WE think we’re ready for. You can still gamify things with cosmetics or trinkets. Or at least make the first lower rung of modules available all at once, with the clear incentive of the next rung not playable, but at least visible. Cast aside this artificial veil. Make the content in this app freely available to its customers, and then it might seem like it was worth $30.

This is the best gift I could have bought myself! if someone really wants to work on themselves to live a peaceful life despite the craziness that's surrounding them every moment of the day, you could take the exercises and activities and bring it into your life. you could just do it privately in your head so no one will even notice! the only thing that people would notice is how much more calm or present you are :) I like that that it give you enough time to relax and get you to a better mindset but at the same time its activities and exercises are not too long to loose your interest.
HERE ARE THE CONS:
*When I say that the daily sessions should be 10/15 minutes it shouldn't go overtime in the courses. I am not interested in sitting for a whole 10 minute lecture when I already did 2 activities before. I have a time frame for how long I go on my headset and I dont like when the "today" adds 10 more minutes to my daily. I like to be free before I sign off. when it goes overtime I loose out on my free play and other games/apps that I planed on doing that day! for this reason I only do the 5 minute option because more than that is not accurate.
* I find that some of the exercises and activities are repetitive.
like why the same kind of breathing exercises just in different backgrounds?
- also, it would be nice to have more options in the leisure part and not just throwing the flow bursts all the time. maybe there can be a paint pallet in some areas.
- another thing, the hoops. there are a lot of those. maybe some can be substituted with basketball hoops and something else?
I would like to thank the producers and everyone involved in headspace! its great and healthy for us humans!!

A Mindful Message:
When we meditate, it's not only to benefit ourselves but also to benefit others.

Feels unfinished

The meditation space is really not pleasant, with a bare space and the menu in my peripheral vision when my eyes are open. Also on the course, I can't move past the first session: it doesn't end and move on to session 2, so I have to keep doing session 1. I was really excited to see the app in VR, but it feels unfinished to me. Disappointed.

Hey Molliz! We appreciate you taking the time to leave your thoughts. It really helps us as we refine the app. We're sorry you're not loving the meditation space and that the courses are glitching. That is a bug we will have the team look into right away. In the meantime, we recommend checking out some of the other meditations spaces throughout the world which might offer you a more pleasing environment. Box breathing is a personal favorite!

A Mindful Moment:
It's rare that we actually simply witness, simple experience a moment for what it is. I think a sunrise and sunset is a perfect example where there is nothing for us to do in that moment. We don't have to look at the sunset and compare it to a previous sunset. We don't have to wish that it were any different. It simply is as it is in that moment for us to enjoy.

i miss

the old way. starting the app and boom i am just in this well crafted world. nothing is starting to ask me something. just step in and no questions ask. i do however understand that the audit went in a more guided direction. got it. i would like a setting to on off switch this behavior

Hi Varryh! Thanks so much for your thoughtful feedback. We will certainly take your thoughts back to the team. In the meantime, we hope you take advantage of the 'Explore' mode which lets you explore the world and make activity selections without the guidance. Hope that helps!

A Mindful Moment:
Though we might search for certainty, security, and the known, albeit in vain, it's the uncertainty, the insecurity, and the unknown that provides the beauty, the wonder, and the preciousness of life.

Not what I expected

I thought I’d be able to choose any of the 300 titles for mediation but I’m not seeing that option. You have a daily map with preselected activities. Didn’t help when you are looking for something specific. There needs to be a search function at least. More things to do. A lot of it is repeated in different areas. I hope to see these changes because I like the feel and idea of having more control on what we get to do. I’d like it if the courses were more visual instead of just sitting in a cave. I’d like them to be more interactive.

Hi Heatkli! Really appreciate your thoughtful review and suggestions for the app. It's extremely helpful to get feedback from users so we can work to improve your experience. Will definitely take these ideas back to the team! In the meantime, we hope you can use the explore side of the map which will allow you to select your own activities for whatever you're in the mood for that day.

A Mindful Message: There are times when we might feel happy with ourselves, other times when we might feel sad, but in seeing that both can exist, we realize that neither can be true. Knowing this is freedom.

Great Updates Turned This App Around

When I first saw the advertisement for this app, I was super excited and couldn’t wait for its release. However, after trying it, I felt a bit disappointed. I found the experience lonely and disorienting, so I only used it a few times before getting bored and leaving it untouched for several months.

Today, I decided to give it another shot, and to my surprise, the app has improved significantly! I love the new guidance and additional interactive content. It’s great to see that my purchase wasn’t a waste because I now feel motivated to use it again.

To make it even better, I’d suggest incorporating more empowering messages. For example, when throwing the colorful items at the wall, a positive word could appear upon impact. Similarly, other games could display uplifting or motivational messages. The app is already great as it is, but little touches like these could take it to the next level. 😉 I’ll gladly give you that fifth star once I see more empowering messages or words integrated into the games—at that point, this app will be absolutely perfect!

Hi Madie!

We are thrilled to hear you gave the app another shot and found it helpful for you! We've learned a lot in our first year on the market and are working hard to improve the experience for you and other users so our app is useful, empowering, and motivating. And thank you for the suggestions, will definitely take those back to the team. Really appreciate your review and kind words, it's responses like these that help us know we're on the right track with our mission of helping people.

A Mindful Message: Everything changes. Nothing stays the same. When we think about this as an idea or a concept, it can feel overwhelming, but the direct experience of this truth is what ultimately sets us free.
