Join Hera on its epic journey to explore the binary asteroid system of Didymos and Dimorphos. Immerse yourself in a thrilling 360° video that launches you into the cosmos.
Discover the instruments and technologies that enable the analysis and understanding of asteroids threatening Earth. Learn how Hera contributes to safeguarding our planet.
The Hera mission, part of the European Space Agency’s planetary defence initiative, aims to study the binary asteroid system of Didymos and its moonlet Dimorphos. By analyzing the impact aftermath of NASA's DART mission on Dimorphos, Hera provides crucial data on asteroid deflection techniques, enhancing our ability to protect Earth from potential asteroid threats.
It is through scientific understanding that we empower ourselves to protect our home, planet Earth. Join us in this historical endeavor—for our planet, for our future.

Get ready for liftoff, because "Guardians of the Earth" for Meta Quest 3 is a truly... spatial experience!
This app rocks. Not only does it turn you into an aerospace engineer (rebuilding the Hera probe piece by piece in Mixed Reality is awesome), but it literally launches you into the cosmos on a 360° VR journey to study how to save our planet. Planetary defense has never been this immersive and interesting.
But the real kicker? The "co-pilot"?
None other than DR. BRIAN MAY!
Yes, the Queen legend, the astrophysicist, the guitarist, is your personal guide on this mission. Learning asteroid science with that unmistakable voice is a "Kind of Magic" that makes the whole experience absolutely epic.
This app originally wouldn’t start for me so I posted a negative review. As you can see by the developer’s response below, they fixed it in the summer of 2025.
It now works great.
Very nice videos and overall a nice app.
Thanks for making this app better.
I liked
this app this. Thought the 360 animation was amazing...But the app keeps re installing itself without permission. never had an app behave like this so rating 1 star .very strange. If they can fix this I will happily give it a better rating but for now I think it might be unsafe to download .
But before I even got to it, I had problems with the very start of the game. Pulling the left hand menu is very hard, sometimes nearly impossible. It is not very intuitive that the button-looking tiles on the screen are not meant to be pushed, but you need to pull the menu from the left hand and push the buttons there, which rarely works. I tried many times until I finally succeeded to start the game. It should be fixed because it's a real obstacle.
Really enjoyed the space experience.
If you're into space, you've got to check out the Guardians of Earth app. It's a fun and interactive way to dive into the European Space Agency's planetary defense mission, Hera. The app offers two main kinds of experiences:
First, you can play around with a virtual model of the Hera spacecraft using augmented reality. But the part I prefer is the immersive 360-degree video that takes you along Hera's journey to the asteroid Didymos. And, as a Queen fan, the fact that it's narrated by the legendary Brian May is a huge plus!
The app is free, so I totally recommend giving it a try.
