I am a new fan of their work! I look forward to seeing much more. End of story!
I really wanted to love the app because it does offer a great collection of stories/content. However, the video quality is just unacceptable in 2024, especially on Meta Quest 3. Everything looks out of focus and pixelated. It’s very much like watching 480p videos in full screen on a 4K monitor. I understand that it costs a lot to have the right equipment to produce high quality VR content. I’m more than willing to pay a price for that, provided there’s a preview of the quality I’m buying. For this very reason, I probably won’t buy the Cirque du Soleil app from the same studio (Felix and Paul), which I so much wanted to see, unless there’s proof of significant improvement of video quality. In the current state, it’s simply unwatchable.
Felix and Paul really do make some of the best 360° videos available, so any free content they offer is appreciated, and it is good to have the option to stream the videos at pretty high quality or download to watch at top quality. It should be noted, however, that they now have a track record of apps that stop working properly after a while once they have moved on to release their next app. Space Explorers has been broken for months, Miyubi on the Rift store hasn't worked for me the last 3 years, and the Jurassic World app that is linked inside this app doesn't seem to exist on the Quest store at all right now. Hopefully they can reverse that trend with their latest app.
EDIT: The studio recently re-released the Jurassic World app on the Quest store, so that link is working now (as of October 2024).
Where's Space Explorers?? I paid for it!
Also please remaster your content at a higher resolution if possible or use a higher bit rate. We are in the world of Quest 3 now which is far superior to when you first created this content.
That VR clip was so good!
Then you took it down.
It’s no secret that Felix&Paul create THE best VR films out there, but this app is a mess.
Most of the included free content I had already seen … on Meta Quest TV — which is also home to even more of their great stuff which is NOT included here.
The 2 in-app purchases? Cirque-de-Soleil — I watched the trailer on Quest TV well before this app came out, and it’s just not my thing (nor is the free creepy Gymnasium film); and the Jurassic world I really would like to see, but it is not available anywhere in the Meta Store - it’s just a broken link. Which once clicked on, I could only escape by completely exiting the F&P app and reatarting it.
Poor navigation and poor UI is a theme with the app. I was using the app while seated, and the menu was situated at my waist height, and right up next to my body, stretching in a curved circle from my far Left to my far Right. i was on my sofa, and completely unable to select anything from the menu, because, in my natural seated position with my elbows bent, my forearms, hands, and controllers were already well past the menu options, and I couldn’t move my arms back any further because my upper arms and elbows were already against the back of the couch. So I had to awkwardly bend and twist my arms/wrists/hands in order to get the controlller where it could select anything.
If you want to enjoy Felix and Paul content, stick to Quest TV. Sorry guys, but this is a HUGE disappointment.
