Nobody there and the AI you have to pay - waste of time
But I'm still trying to ask myself if it's a tool or toy.
I'm the owner of a software development firm. My coders are far and wide. We Skype multiple times a day, sharing screens and vocals. No one wants video. When I Skype with my client and it's parent company, they require video.
I have two headsets and am debating expensing out 5 more to pilot a creative development initiative.
The question I need to answer is "Gift or Gimmick"?
Engage is one of my favorite apps. The setting is beautiful, and there is so much information. My favorite is engaging with historical figures like Vincent VanGogh and Nikola Tesla! Very Educational!
I say fun because it is all in what you make of it. Engage gives you a rock solid base to build experiences, and I have found holding late afternoon casual hangouts for my colleagues to be some of the best moments with my global colleagues.
Overall, a very disappointing experience. Impossible for the visually impaired community to be able to engage with the menus and basic navigation of the UI. Really disappointing.
I've been using the ENGAGE app at work now for almost a year and I think it's fantastic. For a remote team, it really helps with team building and client relationships. We meet regularly in one of the many different ENGAGE locations and it makes us feel more connected as we're having a shared experience and interacting in ways that just aren't possible outside VR. On any given day we could be sitting around a campfire for our internal morning meeting, reviewing tasks together in a conference room on a big screen for a project meeting, or brainstorming ideas on a tropical island. We hold some of our client meetings in ENGAGE too and they love it :-). It adds an element of fun and collaboration that isn't possible with a video call. It's not perfect, of course there are some elements that can be a little frustrating, but the ENGAGE team do take on user feedback and are always working hard to add features and make improvements. They seem truly committed to making the platform the best it can possibly be.
