1. Put on gloves.
2. Place two test tubes in a 12-groove plate.
3. Add salt water to each of the two test tubes.
4. Add a free drop of phenolphthalein indicator or BTB indicator to each of the salted test tubes. (Do not add two indicators to one test tube.) .
5. Place the salt bridge in both test tubes.
6. Place the carbon rod in two test tubes.
7. Connect the + and - poles of the carbon rod and the battery with a piece of wire.
8. Observe the change. Change the electrodes and observe.
