I was excited to spend money on this subscription because it feels so immersive and thoroughly designed. I feel like I'm really there with Katie, in the classroom! The teachers are amazing, I'm hooked.
I am now upto lesson 15 on Japanese. The lessons are excellent, the pacing is just about right for a beginner and it is totally immersive with no English spoken which can be daunting at first but is the way to go. The trips around Japan are stunning and not only bring things to life but make you really want to see in person. The japanese only also reminds you how much you need to learn though to be semi-fluent. Yes there have been a few tech glitches to be expected in a cutting edge product but really doesn't detract from a fun and quality product & the team are always on hand to help and always respond positively. Very much worth the cost. Be warned though, Katie your fellow student does "sing" on occasion ... !!!
Please add Slovakian to English for people who want to lean Slovak, it would be a favour
I've been teaching myself japanese due to culture interest, wanting to watch media in native format and now for my job as travel to Japan is possible and since it's japanese based most coworkers are native speakers and have trouble with English sometimes. Unfortunately speaking has always made me nervous and without time to attend lessons with a teacher finding this has been a game changer. Also the real-time support for issues and questions is great. Will highly recommend to colleagues and friends! Keep up the great work :)
I don't have time to learn a language at the moment but the travel videos are fantastic.
I just finished the first lesson which is completely free. It’s 2 AM right now, and I would have kept going onto the rest of the demo if my headset didn’t die.
This is such an awesome app. What I think is its biggest selling point is the fact that it’s literally a course rather than some gimmicky VR immersion buzzword.
What I mean by that is there are 2 REAL teachers, a fellow classmate (great for driving the competitive spirit in you), and they all address you as an imaginary student present in the classroom. I was skeptical at first but it actually flows really well, and the voice detection works great so far.
I’m using it as a supplement to other learning material because I feel like I’m missing out on the speaking/pronunciation that’s expected from only reading books and watching videos only.
You are basically paying for an interactive classroom that fits around your schedule. People pay a lot more for attending college courses to learn languages so I think $25 a month is more than fair. Think of it more like that rather than comparing it to the other resources as I have yet to see another product like this on the market.
